Processor in my T40p? Currently have a 1.6 and want to toss in a 1.7? Thx T40p - 2373-G5U Intel 2200BG mini PCI adapter

Upgrade to? I currently have a IBM T40p 2373-G5U and would like to upgrade the mini PCI adapter. Simple question which one would you go with - the IBM a/b/g or the Intel Pro/Wireless 2200bg mini PCI adapter? Any help would be appreciated. Thx I know the Intel 2200 is like $59.00 vs. the IBM...

Would I see an increase in speed if I switch to 802.11g? I am on 802.11b, but was going to upgrade to the IBM a/b/g mini and upgrade my router with a Netgear WGT624. I mostly cruise the internet. So will I see a speed increase on the internet? T40p

Does the restore Cd's from IBM restore the predesktop utilities that where hidden on the drive? Any help would be appreciated.

Just formatted my T40p and everything is cool except for the USB controller. I cannot find the driver for this device. Could anyone assist? Thanks.

How much up time will I lose (unplugged) if I switched from a High Capacity Li-Ion Battery to a standard Li-Ion Battery. The reason I ask is I can't stand the looks of the 9 cell sticking out the back of my T40p.

Good point..... Thats what I noticed when I disabled the predesktop, those utilities where gone. I kinda like them there. I guess I'll leave the hidden partition. Thanks folks

I got it from IBM direct - payed around $3200.00 (2373-G5U)

If I remove the hidden Partition on my T40p, what utilities will I lose? I know I will lose the image for the machine. Is there anything else I will lose? Oh ya I have the restore cd's from IBM. Thanks

OK.... Called back and got a different tech. The cd's should be here in a day or two with no charge.
