Secure Erasing 840 Evo E-Drive - can it be done?

Works every time for me!:D I'll remove the SSD from the system, and attach a 2.5 SATA to eSATA cable that I have for backup/secure erasing, and Parted Magic gets the job done every time. Note that it's on a eSATA port of a spare notebook, that way the SSD has what's needed for the secure erase...

    8Gb to 16Gb - Recommendation

Being that the price & brand is the same, why not pick up one of these kits?:) https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231589&ignorebbr=1 I just purchased a total of 4 kits to stuff two Z97 MB's to the max (32GB in each PC), have both of the 'Devil's Canyon' CPU's produced in...

Looking for good mid range M2 NVMe drive.

My 240GB MyDigitalSSD BPX is running nearly as fast in my #2 PC as my 512GB Samsung 950 PRO that's in my main rig!:) The secret? Mount it in a PCIe lane, not on the MB, there's a little known adapter with fan which is replaceable, brand name is Sintech. Works on most all 2280 M.2 SSD's (don't...

The hunt for illegals is on.

I personally don't believe there's going to be concentration camps.....even the OP stated that may have been going too far. What will likely happen is enforcing existing laws on the books.......which should had been done over 40 years back. It was the failed 'drug war' that got this started...

Wireless keyboard Logitech MK270 is GARBAGE

My new MK270 Logitech keyboard/mouse combo is working very well for the price I paid ($16.99 at the Best Buy store on eBay), and a lot better than dragging/separating wires all over the place.:) Had I known how good it was going to be, would had purchased at least two more, by the time mine...

Do GPUs with no PCI Express Power Connector will any have issues?

As long as one knows what they're purchasing with these GPU's w/out a power connector, no problem. There's many OEM PC's that can greatly benefit from some of these cards, especially those that ships with the GDDR3 versions. 1GB GDDR5 is at least as powerful (if not more so) than a 2GB GDDR3...

    AMD RYZEN Builders Thread

If you're not a Prime member, don't expect the fastest shipping, regardless of price. I've had orders still in process 5 business days & when a item of the same brand at a higher (almost double) spec was on promo for the same price, was able to cancel the original order & able to order the one...

Can TRIM work on a drive that never rests?

While I don't like to 'dig open' old Topics, this is one that has baffled me. I've allowed my SSD's up to 12 hours of idle time for TRIM/GC, and have even resorted to the trick of unplugging the data cable & done the same. Yet using Recuva, have found & recovered many intact files.....some...

[PCPER] People may be migrating off Windows onto Linux

That's because Ubuntu 16.04 & all derivative OS's dependent on it, including Linux Mint, has been deprived of AMD graphics drivers. This was an outrageous dub decision on the part of Canonical, because there are untold millions of computers on retail shelves & online, not to begin to count...

    $99.99 refurb PCs @ NeweggFlash.com

Another egg removed from the deal, this is just another 'enhanced IDE' type of MB, not true SATA-2. The ones who sells these computers should be stating these things in their listings. This is a weird standard to implement, either the units should be IDE or SATA, not a hybrid blend. Couldn't...

    $99.99 refurb PCs @ NeweggFlash.com

The HP dc5800 came in yesterday, runs really good, especially after adding 4GB more RAM in it, and did install the Radeon HD 7570 as a test, runs good. Same 6.9 WEI, highest rated component in the system, though at 6.5 for both the CPU & RAM, that's not shabby either. Though I didn't care for a...

    $99.99 refurb PCs @ NeweggFlash.com

I bit the bullet and purchased it late last night, for $79.99 after Newegg rebate, not a bad deal. Windows 7 Home Premium OEM alone costs nearly that on promo (usually $74.99). Will image the drive prior to first boot & install the 64 bit version of 7 Home Premium using the same code on the PC...

    $99.99 refurb PCs @ NeweggFlash.com

Based from my research earlier today, that HP DC5800 can take up to 8GB of DDR2 PC2 5300/6400 MHz RAM. That's according to Page 17 of this HP manual for the PC. http://h20565.www2.hp.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?docId=emr_na-c01363873 I'm considering getting it to replace a Dell Optiplex 740...

Zoolz scams people who signed up for their accounts.100GB of free cloud storage

I'll stick with SkyDrive, by a known corporation. Also Google Drive is now available. Shouldn't be taking so long to setup online storage. Sure, 100GB sounds (especially for $0) fantastic, however there's probably going to be a catch somewhere. Worse yet, who knows how long they'll be around...
