3rd method didn't work for me as well. 1st one didn't work either. i am now running as you know my sataII HD in sata1 controller(moved it from sataII port where i had the sataII drivers installed, now on sata1 port i let win get the drivers for the drive, no problems since after two weeks)
now my WD 1600js sataII is running in sata1 port. i moved it there and so far after three days no freezing. I dont't think i solved it though, it played on me many times thinking i got over it but it proved me wrong.
I also got the email from the support team and they said it might be my power...
@qsrk you slowed down your sataII HD and you still use it on the sataII controller? what's the point of that? i moved the sataII hd to the sataI controller and so far so good. in real use i dont see any drop in performance just in tests i see that it was reduced in half.

make sure ur optical drive is set to primary and plugged to the secondary(ide2). the simpliest thing for you is to unplug the optical drive and see what it happens. good luck
