    I already know about the startup control panel...but is there anything that I can type in a notepad and turn into a .bat that will end processes for quicktime tasks...windows messenger....norton ghost background processes...etc..

    In my hardware class today, the question came up whether our computers were usb 1.1 or 2.0....In the past I had wanted to know...but I couldn't find any way to figure it out. Besides looking up the motherboard specs, (which didn't help) is there a way in windows...or a free software download...

    Go to google and type in Gaim...It's the linux version of aim. Has some more cool features.

    Questiosn about XP's memory usage

    You can change the windows xp interface to look like that of windows 2000, and turn off the fading. That makes it run a little bit faster. I don't know too much about cache and page files but I would assume that xp uses both the hard drive's page file and the system's memory simutaneously...

    How many partitions do you have? It may be that another partition is filled up, and you're trying to save to that one

    Well, when I did it way back, it never asked me to press any key to boot, and I didn't press any key. Just jumped into the loop.

    I had the same exact problem a while ago with an XP Home disk, and I felt like an idiot. For some reason when I use any other windows xp disk it recognized where it was after boot, and continued the install. I'm also clueless as to why this happened...
