The day that there is a P-M chip laptop with the AWESOME mva screen on a laptop that is less than 5 pounds with a built in CDrw/DVD drive... I'm there...
That's all I'm saying... hands down.
To me the screen is a very important priority.
Wait until you guys see the Fujitsu screen in person...
M00se,
I have a xga t40 screen as well and I have the same issues with the screen...
I've checked out all the laptop screens this past weekend...
If you want the BEST LAPTOP LCD SCREEN in the planet.... check out the brand new MVA screens with ultra sharp and wide viewing angles...
Mocca,
Thanks... seems like you me and Old Spooky are the only ones here... :)
I was just wondering if you or anyone else has this same issue?

I have continually been noticing something wierd about my LCD screen on my XGA T40.
You may have noticed why I kept asking people about what they thought about their T40 screens and how they compare.. yada yada yada..
Well.. the reason behind it is that I get this whitish cloudy feeling to my...
OS,
Thank you for that info.
Hmm.. tempting..
I think we'll see how this whole IBM situation resolves...
And wait for the prices to go down for the highest end models...

But that only solves one of the problems..
If you try to minimize and maximize the screen you will hear another type of buzz... in sync with the minimizing and maximizing motion.
It could still be related to the video card.. perhaps there is a drivers update?
-caltrinity
Yes that helps. There is still a slight sound but it is drastically minimized...
I'm now really thinking it is the stupid ATI card conflict.
I've had similar issues with ATI cards before where the video would somehow interfere with the sound card because of the sharing of IRQs...

Wondering if you have the annoying BUZZING SCRATCHING NOISE?
Or if IBM tech support wants to try to emulate it?

Mocca,
I think your sound is not as bad as mine.
Because I still get it with the LAPTOP/PORTABLE power scheme..
The intensity doesn't change by power setting for me.
This is absolutely unacceptable... not all laptops do this.
In out of all the laptops I've owned, this is the first.
Don't...
Mocca,
How does the screen on VprMatrix200A5 compare to T40 XGA screen in terms of viewing angles horiz. and vert.
Another thing that I don't like is the terrible viewing angles on laptops.. except of course for the Dell ULTRA SHARP UXGA+ models like the Inpirion 8200..
I wish IBM would come...
No. The buzz is unacceptable.. even the cheap Sotec $599 laptop does not have that sound exteriorly.
WE're talking about the top of the line notebook from IBM.. over 4X the price.
