<< Anything faster than 4x really isn't safe if you plan on keeping your CDs for more than a year or so. If you record at 24x your data will probably be really corrupted.

Not really. You'd need around a 74x burner to do that, and even then, you'd still have to take into account the time to write the lead-in and lead-out areas.
