I plan on using an ECS K7VMA mobo w/ a Duron 800 to build a system for my stepdaughter. Nothing fancy, just a basic internet appliance. Do I need to be concerned with heat? I have a crappy Volcano II that wasn't up to snuff for my 1.2G on a A7V133. What's a good case for this basic sys?
Thanks
Is it necessary to unlock the CPU by bridging the four L1 bridges before overclocking? Or can I just change the core voltage, multiplier, and freq?
BTW - I'm using a AMD 1.2G @266 on an ASUS A7V133.
Thanks!
Ok. On the jumpers I set the JEN to jumper mode, the The CPU Ex. Freq. setting to 133, and the CPU Core Bus Freq. Multiple to 10.5 and it wouldn't boot. Am I missing something? I'd like to get to ~1333MHz. I'm a dummy, please give me step by step instructions....
Ok, I'm ready to give OC a try. I have an AMD 1.2G on an ASUS A7V133 266FSB and 256M PC133. Can someone give me some basic directions and initial settings?
Thanks!:)
The dilemma continues...
The problem: Hangs on large file transfers. For example, transfering large files over home ethernet or downloading large files such as mp3 or multimedia from the internet. Doesn't occur during any other operation. Heat does not appear to be an issue. CPU temp is ~46C...

I just flashed the BIOS to 1004 from 1003a. Did not fix problem....
Not sure about the Promise drivers, I'm not running RAID so I don't think they're installed.
I'm not overclocking. In fact, I tried underclocking (from 1200 down to 1008) because of the heat and the hangs. Did not fix...
