[TPU]Core i3 and Pentium "Haswell" Desktop CPU Pricing Surfaces

Cheers. My friends currently looking at a budget build based on a current Pentium G2120. Might be worth holding off for these new Pentiums if they have markedly better iGPUs, even if the CPU is basically the same.

Any word on when these might make it to store shelves?

    Budget build [£250]

Thanks, that's really helpful. I hadn't appreciated that the performance gap was that extreme on Richland dual cores.

    Budget build [£250]

Hey Guys, A friend of mine is looking to build a new PC but she has a very limited budget. USE: General office tasks, youtube, iPlayer, some heavier image manipulation and PDF work related to the completion of a PhD – i.e. creation of a complex word document with large images rather than...

    Help: AMD 7950 driver instability

Sorry, it's a P965 Platinum. I misremembered the chipset number: http://www.msi.com/product/mb/P965-Platinum.html It's a really old motherboard now. I am running it AHCI. The processor was overclocked to 3.2 Ghz and stable on my AMD 5770. I reduced the overclock to 3.0 Ghz to see if that...

    Help: AMD 7950 driver instability

I am having a recurring graphics card driver problem. I recently got an XFX 7950 DD at a ridiculously low price from a reputable dealer (I think it was a pricing error). However I am having recurring driver issues with games: 1). CIV 5 crashes regularly. Sometimes I can load into the game in...

    7950 at PCI 2.0 8x

Thanks guys! I'll stick to using the ASUS add in card then. One thing I will say is that Skyrim looks a lot better with an AMD 7950 than an AMD 5770 regardless of processor! :D

    7950 at PCI 2.0 8x

I am in the process of slowly upgrading my decrepit desktop PC. It's evolved through the years and currently consists of: QX6700 @3.2, 4Gb RAM, 256Gb C4 SSD, AMD 7950 3Gb I picked up the 7950 a couple of days ago from a reputable online retailer for a total steal price 2nd hand -> £33!!!! So...

    Torn between Laptop and Prime

My UL30 arrived! And it’s got an SU7300 processor rather than an SU2300 which is nice. It also seems to have Bluetooth which I wasn’t expecting. I’ve upgraded to an SSD and it boots in ~20 secs – which is great for my intended use which is a laptop to pick up and use...

    Torn between Laptop and Prime

Thanks guys for all the advice. I agree that manufacturers of smaller machines are going to have to up the screen quality in order to compete with the screen quality of tablets. I came across a refurbished Asus UL30a with a Celeren 1.2 Ghz SU2300 processor for £250. It's a little bit more...

    Torn between Laptop and Prime

You're probably right. The trouble is that it's very hard to find a half decent machine between 11 and 13 inches that isn't really expensive in the UK. If you go up to 15.6 you have many more options, but that's just a bit too big for me.

    Torn between Laptop and Prime

Because it's an IPS based display whereas (I am assuming) the Lenovo is a TN. Well that is what is putting me off the Prime - it's very expensive and a luxury choice. I could spec out the X121e with 64Gb SSD, 8Gb RAM and a 3G wireless card for nearly the same price if I wanted to.

    Torn between Laptop and Prime

Dear All, I am hoping someone out there can help me with a conundrum. I have a fully fledged desktop PC which I built myself a few years ago. It’s due for upgrade really (and in fact I posted on these forums for advice about that [very helpful]), but I stuck in a second hand...
