I wasn't aware micro atx would fit in a standard atx sized case.
That being the case I guess I would just be worried about the cpu cooler I have fitting on the board (thermalright xp90 iirc)
I'm not planning on installing an SSD in this computer, but almost all of those boards that are left on Newegg are Micro ATX (which, AFAIK will not fit into the P180 properly).
The used route is an option, but I would prefer to buy new if possible. I'm okay with buying a board that requires...
So my Abit IP35-E died recently, and I am looking for a new motherboard. I am satisfied with the speed of my computer as of now, and from what I have heard going to an AM3 board and a corresponding AMD processor would probably not offer me a huge jump in speed. So I am looking to simply replace...
Thanks, that doesn't look like a bad option as long as it fits the CPU cooler I am using.
If I am upgrading to DDR3 would it be worth my while to consider buying a different motherboard and getting something like a Phenom x4, or would this not be a significant upgrade from my Q6600?
I probably should mention that the sound also kept cutting out before this would happen, and would come back in a seemingly random fashion like the power to USB/picture would.
EDIT: Sound is onboard, by the way.
I am starting to think that this is just a case of the motherboard going out...
So I tried an old keyboard I had lying around (PS2 connection, existing keyboard that was connected was through USB) and this did not help.
Tried unplugging the mouse and keyboard and booting up, still no picture to the monitor.
My computer will not start up after being restarted when it does...
So my computer is about 4 years old (roughly), and occasionally when I turn it on it seems to turn on normally (fans turn on, etc.) but the mouse and keyboard will receive no power (lights on them do not turn on) and the monitor receives no signal and there is consequently no picture. I will...
I ordered a ASUS F8SN-C1 from xoticpc. Today they called me and told me that the F8SN-C1 had been discontinued and so they were switching my order to a F8SV-B1. After looking up some benchmarks it looks like the F8SV-B1 is actually the slowest of all these options. In addition, according to this...
Good, the less thinking we have to do, the better.
I think I would be scared if I had to start thinking on my own, and didn't have the federal government there to tell me what to do!
EDIT:
The original post I made is pretty much worthless now. I will be receiving this laptop as a graduation present, but I would like to keep it under $1500 if possible (I could go over if I see a good reason to do so, but under $1500 is preferred).
My choices at this point are...
