Need suggestions for replacing Comcast rental modem/router

With the "16x" speed thing vs the 8x on the surfboard modems, this wouldn't speed up my connection if I only pay for 50 mbit anyway right? Or would there be a difference between these 2 modems with 50mbit service?

Need suggestions for replacing Comcast rental modem/router

http://mynewmodem.comcast.net That's a listing of their approved modems, I was considering the $90 Motorola surfboard one, gets good reviews on Amazon. Would take 13 months to make up the price of renting. How often do modems go bad usually? I've rented them for about 10 years now and only...

Need suggestions for replacing Comcast rental modem/router

Well, the problem with just getting a router means I would still be paying $7 a month to Comcast for equipment rental. So getting a cable modem would save me money over the rental fee after a period of time. Any suggestions on cable modems perhaps?

Need suggestions for replacing Comcast rental modem/router

Comcast has very few approved modems listed on their site, if I don't use one of those specifically, does that mean it won't work?

Need suggestions for replacing Comcast rental modem/router

I currently rent a cable modem/router in one from Comcast, an arris tg862, but it has horrible signal range and barely makes it from my computer room to my other devices. I also don't want to keep paying the rental fee. I'm looking to replace it. I prefer a separate cable modem and router...

    need suggestions for SSD

Thank you very much for the info. That SSD looks to be exactly what I need and for a little less than my price cap too. Looks like it's going on my Amazon wishlist for my B-day next month.

    need suggestions for SSD

so far as I can tell, none of the 5 drive bays can take a 2.5. It seems you can only slide in a 3.5. The whole system is fairly locked down and hard to make changes. It also states on Dell's support site that a 3.5 converter is required for installing a 2.5 SSD. And on the drive you linked...

    need suggestions for SSD

I recently purchased a new gaming rig. It's an alienware from the Dell outlet ( refurbished ) and did not come with a SSD. I realize alienware is overpriced but with coupon code and oddly low pricing it was significantly cheaper than i could build it myself, under $950 pre tax. So I'm now...

    25% off at Dell Outlet

Dell thinks they're being sneaky with that one... but ya, it's just a 7990.

    25% off at Dell Outlet

Dell is running a 25% off any Desktops, Laptops, Tablets, Monitors or Printers at their Dell Home outlet. The coupon code shows as starting 5/27 and going through 5/28, however, the code is already working now so it's a great time to go look before more people start looking tomorrow. The code...

1440x900. Does a SSD make much of a difference? They seem quite pricey for the amount if space you get.

Need advice for PC build plz

I'm looking to buy a new PC soon, or in a few months if waiting will save me a good amount of money. It will be used primarily for gaming, at the moment Neverwinter, Everquest 2, and Elder scrolls online mostly. These are the components I'm considering currently: Antec Three Hundred Case -...

Help on decision for new desktop

My budget is around $1100 max @Lakedude I actually have a 128GB OCZ vertex 2 SSD in my current PC I could move over, it's a few years old though. I've heard SSD's have a semi-short lifespan, not sure if that's actually true though? Also, time isn't really an issue, can put this off for about...
