Cool 'n Quiet is working for me. At least the PowerNow! Dashboard says it is cutting back the voltage and CPU speed. What do I need to do to have it control my fans?
It won't be slow at all. I am not overclocking my machine, but I had a hard time getting it to work (ie install Windows or pass Memtest86) without manually adjusting the bios.
The problem seems to be that the ram reports to the motherboard what "timings" to default to. For whatever reason...
I was getting something similar to that "sometimes" on my last mobo (haven't seen it on my new one). I got this message on both mobos: "USB Device Not Recognized. One of the USB Devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned, and Windows does not recognize it."
I would see this on...
Do you have a link to this? I can't find anything about replacemnt USB ports on their support site.
I may just try emailing if this is a known problem.

Just double checked and I don't have the extra gound wire connected. Is there no standard for these headers that they must be loose wires like that? Annoying.
I have the original Lanboy case. I've never had any luck with the pesky front USB ports with my last mobo (MSI KN7N2). I just got a new mobo (DFI NF4 Ultra) and moved everything into this case again, and still my problem persists.
I can plug a USB mouse into those ports and it works...
Kingston's web site shows timings for this ram to be "2-3-2-6" (CAS/tRCD/tRCP/tRAS) (Still trying to learn the lingo)

So why does CPU-Z say something different? Why do they only advertise one set of...
When I run CPU-Z, my RAM (Kingston KHX3200AK2/1G) reports SPD Timings Table of:
Freq 166MHZ/200MHZ
CAS Latency 2.0/2.5
RAStoCAS 3/3
RAS Pre 3/3
Tras 7/8
But I get memory errors in Memtest86 test #5 if I keep everything set to auto by SPD. Board appears to run fine if I manually force...
Just setup Cool N Quiet tonight on my DFI NF4 Ultra. The walkthrough I found said to change the Power Options profile, but it also mentioned installing a driver from AMD's site. "AMD Athlon? 64 Processor Driver for Windows XP, Version (exe) 1.1.0.18"...
Just wanted to report back that I flashed my bios to 2.09 (is this a beta?) and all my memory issues seemed to be resolved. I put the MaxAsync Latency back to auto and all seems fine now.
Here is the bios I used:
