check Hidden file/folders just in case
unusual for HD to be bad if DM can see it
some drive manufacturers include a drive utility that checks the integrity of the drive
if you think its duff, go to website and take a look
there also maybe a support site where people have had similar issues
if its XP go into Safe Mode and run command sfc /scannow
this is the system file checker, but you will need to run any updates after, reapply service pack etc.
as long as it does load in safe mode you could go into Startup & recovery and switch off Automatically Restart after system...
get your XP CD, boot into this and if you can see drive, format within there, restart PC when after NTFS format and files start copying

i couldnt get media player to work with subs initially but played movie in WinDVD and subs started playing. After that media player now plays them
make sure subs in same folder as movie
what OS and service pack?
there is a limit on earlier builds, like 130gb
you've checked Disk Manager and all that, make sure HD is assigned a letter and formatted
just setup a one way external trust so Forest B trust Forest A.
dont know much about certificates, but maybe something like setting up a standalone certificate authority using web enrollment to obtain certificate, with accounts in the Forest B for external users.
what about a VPN?
it will be well slow that last PC
turn of all effects, set pagefile to same amount so doesnt use CPU to grow, turn of unecessary services, turn of system restore, etc..
