    Lost Overclock

Stability is still nowhere to be found but I HAVE upped the clock speed at which it can't be found. I'm now sitting at 3.68 Ghz on my Q9450. Specs Below. Question is: core 4 keeps failing a few seconds into prime. I have about 6 trials where i change various values (Core GTLs, vPLL, vFSB...

    PLL Limits 45nm quad

Well it's a P45 (Asus P5Q-Deluxe) so I'm hoping they were a little mindful of the 45nm procs. All the other values "turn yellow" at values I'm very comfortable with so I just assumed... But we all know what happens you you assume. This is getting to be very very annoying. I've got a bad CPU...

    PLL Limits 45nm quad

I'm left to desperate measures. Until i started messing with PLL and the GTLs I couldn't for the life of me get 3.4 stable. Now, it appears I got 3.4 stable and want to try to up it to 3.6 where prime is failing on core 4 after 6 seconds.

    PLL Limits 45nm quad

I've finally (and strangely) been able to get my Q9450 3.4ghz prime stable. Not sure what I did. Thought it was the PLL but i backed it down to normal and it's still fine. I'd really like to get 3.6ghz prime stable: what are my limits for PLL? I had it on 1.7 earlier (didn't seem to help much...

    Too many accessories? (Q9450 Overclock)

Haha, I realize 10 seconds prime stable is an oxymoron. The "strange" thing is that I havn't had a blue screen, a freeze or even a hiccup for the 48+ hours this has been on straight. I realize that that's not enough to determine stability but if i can't get my comp to be 24/7 prime stable then...

    Too many accessories? (Q9450 Overclock)

I'm running bhishma-stable right now (anything >= 10 second prime stable) with a Q9450 @ 3.6Ghz - Vcore ~ 1.368, which is apparently stable enough for me to run crysis, listen to music and run everything on linux. I'll be testing my memory soon (should have suspected it a week ago) but...

    Q9450 Overclocking: What next?

Well, it was a somewhat convoluted story. I didn't disable TM2. I tried to boot windows, it just shutdown. Wide-eyed, I restarted it to see the BIOS temp reading. It was 80C and climbing. I immediately shut it off. Ordered another heatsink, put it on and the processor was working (temps were...

    Q9450 Overclocking: What next?

I was always planning on starting back from scratch so I didn't mean to sound like i was ignoring that option. I was just wondering, impatient that I am, if there were any short term and easy solutions to the problem. Alas, as usual, there isn't. Darn. Thanks for the help everyone.

    Q9450 Overclocking: What next?

Do you think i should just keep it at 3.6 even though it's prime unstable? With the AC on (come August it'll be on 24/7) it runs at 42,42,38,38 which i am comfortable with. Or should i clock it down to 3.2 or 3.4 and try to get it prime stable? Obviously my use for the computer matters: I'll...

    Q9450 Overclocking: What next?

Right now I'm at about 1.32 VTT, 1.4 NB and 1.35 Vcore (1.336 after Vdroop). FSB at 450. Core 4 always fails first, about 4 seconds after I start prime. Core 1 follows about 10 seconds later. My idle temps are 45,45,40,40 and my room is hot (can't afford AC over summer). Is this about as...

    Q9450 Overclocking: What next?

Thanks the help! Feel like i have a sense of direction in this universe finally. My VID is 1.25 (the highest possible apparently). Just my luck. I may be forced to be satisfied with 3.6 windows stable. I wonder how far I'll get with such a high VID. As for the Q6600 - I lapped the...

    Q9450 Overclocking: What next?

I can boot my Q9450 (on an Asus P5Q-Deluxe) into windows all the way up to 3.7 GHz but realized when I did that cores 1 and 4 failed Prime within 5 seconds. I'm working my way back up but wondering if i'm not tweaking enough things. So far I've only been messing with FSB and vcore. Oddly, I...
