Anyone know of a good comparison of the ATi Mobility 9600 with the FireGL2? I know theyre the same chipset, just optimized for different applications, but it would be nice to see a side-by-side.....especially someone who installed the Catalyst (or Omega?) drivers on their FireGL2

what the hell is going on with HardOCP forums (Hardforum.com)??!?! They've been 'upgrading' now for like 2 weeks! I would think a heavily used discussion board like that would be back up as fast as possible...

I think people are so engrained in the 15" screen, thinking that is the standard, and anything smaller is too small. I really think you need to see the 14.1" screen before you decide it is too small, because IBM really does a great job with making the 14.1".

I got some info from my school too, and believe it or not there IS going to be a 15" model of the T42. Sorry WackyDan, you're misinformed.

heh, yeah im about as n00b as they get, but just to this board. It seems every other board is plagued with the same kind of questions....people just need to do more research (aka lurking) before they post.

I too have my doubts about any immediate, drastic price drops. Sure, the prices of PM's will drop, but the key is the release of Sonoma (aka. Centrino II). I bet that when the whole package (Alviso, Dothan, etc) is released together, we will see huge price drops on Centrino and/or PM products...

IBM Thinkpad T42 (or whatever next model is, should be out late May) will probably have just that....but they come at a price....

sweeeeet! I have been checking our computer dept. website as well, and they have updated with the new specs (but no distinct model #s yet).......but the price difference between us and Clemson or NYU is ridiculous! I am probably gonna get the T42 or so, but I want to see if they will reduce...
