I'm building the following rig for a client who is looking to future proof their computer as much as possible without spending much more than 1300.
Is a sound card really needed? I've been acting under the impression that onboard audio is good enough for just about everyone and I'm not sure...

The northbridge fan had two push pins kind of deals, I don't know the precise name that went through the motherboard and caught on the other side using a mushroom-shaped head. I broke the two little plastic bits off that held the heatsink on, and installed the new one in the holes that the old used.
I took apart my computer, put in a new heatsink for my north bridge (a8n-e northbridge stock cooler sucks) and when I put everything back together, my computer no longer recognized my sound card. I had to unplug everything in order to install the heatsink as I broke off the bottom pins. My rig...
Bamacre: Does it not matter that the gigabyte motherboard specifies 1066 mhz as its memory standard? I'm not exactly clear on how RAM works with other hardware that doesn't have the same standard.
It's home because they want to keep using an OS they're familiar with.
