Finding an apartment in New York City

Having lived in new york for about 6 years I would suggest that you live in manhattan and not LIC. I know a lot of people that lived outside of manhattan (roosevel island, hoboken, brooklyn) in their first years and they regretted traveling to get to the city. Especially those late nights...

    NYC people

I would definitely check out churrascaria plataforma. It's a great Brazillian BBQ place. The one in Tribeca looks a lot nicer than the one in midtown. I've had a couple of parties there. It is a blast. Churrascaria

New Yorkers: Is traffic really bad at Holland Tunnel in the morning?

I commute from downtown Manhattan to NJ via Holland Tunnel probably about 3 times a week. There is minimal traffic since it is the reverse commute. Take the 1/9 S to 78 but if you plan on going to Florham park you will always hit traffic on the 24. Have fun tomorrow. I imagine the...

Masters Degree?: How much did your salary go up?

I made the transition from tech to finance with my MBA. It is fairly unique to the finance industry, but I experienced a 100%+ pay increase. I would preface that getting into to a top program (top 20 or higher) is important to justify the cost and time of education. (Considering that...

Seattle, New York, LA, San Francisco?

New York. No other city like that if you are young and single and want to have a good time. Period. I've lived in SF , LA, and Boston. Nothing else compares. You gotta have money to play though.

decent areas to live in NYC that dont cost an arm and a leg?

If you plan on living in nyc - live in manhattan only. There is no substitute. Living in manhattan is once in a lifetime opportunitiy and don't let new jersey get in the way of that. there are some hidden deals in craigslist, but I would check the hells kitchen area if you want to go on the...

    $41+/hr?

To be honest I don't even think 41/hr is really all that much. I think if you work as an independent IT contractor in a field that needs people you can make up to 150 or even 200 dollars an hour. I know people that do SAP and Siebel that make around 150/hr. It is not all that uncommon...

    SD Camcorders?

I'm looking to buy a camcorder for my vacation, but I wanted something small to bring with me. Does anyone know of a camcorder that uses SD cards versus the normal tape media or MiniDV. I don't really care about editing these videos as much. I've seen the panasonic DV-AV1000 (?) and the...

    noise canceling headphones

I've tried them all. I travel about 200k miles a year on planes so I definitely get the mileage out of the headphones. If you plan on using it often then get the bose headsets. There really is nothing that comes close to it. They are comfortable and great on flights.

To all of you who made fun of me for my GMAT questions

Good score, but i suggest trying to break the 700 barrier if you plan on going to a top 20 school. Your quant and verbal score should both be above 80%. Good luck with your applications. Get your essays and recommendations done early. <-- Current 1st year MBA student
