My wife's new laptop came with Windows 8, which I despise. I bought her a 240 GB SSD to speed up her laptop. After physically installing the new SSD I booted to the laptop BIOS and set the computer to boot from USB first. I have an image of Win 7 Pro 64 bit. I used Win 7 DVD/USB Download...
Yep, this new system is a huge upgrade over my gaming laptop (i7 720qm @ 1.6 and Radeon 5870m) and my current tower PC (Core2Quad Q9500 and Radeon 3870 512MB).
Total cost for the parts in my initial post was about $630. I found a deal on a Crucial BX100 500 GB SSD on Amazon earlier...
I found an overclocking guide online for this particular 7950 card. It looks like it can easily be overclocked to stock 7970 RAM and GPU speed without even a voltage bump. Maybe I didn't buy the wrong card after all.

Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines is an awesome game. I've played through is at least half a dozen times. I started with a Ventrue male and have played Malkavian (great fun because of the dialogue choices. Malkavians are all crazy), Brujah, Toreador. About the only one I was never...
Dungeons of Daggorath for my Tandy Color Computer II with 16k ram. The game was on a cartridge that plugged into the side of the computer, but your games were saved to a cassette drive............ yes, as in music cassette for you young 'uns. D of D was an awesome game.
What do you guys think of this one? It's an Ivy Bridge i3 with 4 GB ram, 500 GB HD, 15.6" 1366x768 res, UMA (shouldn't matter for these people).
