Ok so I found out the overclocking problem I was having with this board. There is a FSB jumper that should be set to the maximum (1600 FSB) and then there is really no limit to this board! Overclocked straight to 420 FSB no worries ... didn't need to tweak anything. And I feel it could easily go...
Hi Pun,
So the ASRock board I won P43Twins1600 has arrived and I've set it all up :) From what I see from your link above the Bios' on these boards are the same. Could you post what settings you used for the first advanced page (CPU Configuration)? I'm having trouble getting it past 300 FSB...
If possible it would be interesting if you could please check the following:
get cpuz if you don't already have: http://www.cpuid.com/cpuz.php
and in the Memory tab check:
- Frequency
&
- FSB:DRAM
(the top 2 in the Timings frame)
This will show your actual memory frequency and the...
Depends who you ask - it is documented you 'can' go up to 1.5v (but then of course you really have to watch the heat generated!!) but for me I wouldn't go above 1.4v for 14/7 usage.
So you are CPU limited then since you need to raise the voltage to continue. That is good news for higher multi...
no it's not possible to change the muliplier. So currently you've got the board O/C'd to 377 FSB? So what is the limiting factor to get to 400 FSB to match your RAM 1:1? I've forgotten what the max for a Q6600 is but 3.4ghz seems pretty good so maybe that is it on air!
EDIT: Going by the Bios...
Whoahoo I won a P43Twins1600 :) ... no threads on here yet on these boards and how they overclock?? Usually ASRock are bad overclockers but this is the P45 chipset so it has to be ok? Anyone seen any overclocking information on these boards?
yeah it's very important for stability with this board to cool the NS heatsink.
I just bought a 5? small fan and superglued it to the top just like this:

before I couldn't even touch the thing for a second without my finger burning...
only other thing I can think of is the power supply ... do you use the same one as with the Abit board ? What is the psu ?
thx amenx I think I might try it out ... a 1gig kit of ddr2 is so cheap atm ! and 2gig does not seem enough when gaming in Vista ! I'm running at 97% in bf2142 and vista !
Anyone know how the following memory configuration goes on this board ? in particular in keeping dual channel and overclocking ?
2 x 1024 DDR2-800
with
2 x 512 DDR2-800
same specs and manfacture for each kit ... only the size is different
had a quick look for you and found the following pretty much everywhere
1long, 2 short Video adapter error Either video adapter is bad or is not seated properly. Also, check to ensure the monitor cable is connected properly.

I believe Marklo meant that the voltages in your bios require adjusting not that your power supply is inadequate. This would be especially true if you say you set your Voltages to Auto (the flashing message) to get it working ... this means that the board adjusts the voltages itself (usually to...
haven't had any static noise problem ... what are your current oc settings ?
To keep a 16x pci-e link width while overclocking you need only to set the frequency between 102-105 as I said above :)
I'd also like to know this ... but never seen a program that can show these other voltages yet ... apart from speedfan which shows your ddr2 voltage (it's the voltage above or below your cpu voltage)
I would try putting the cpu Vcore to 1.4 just to see if that can get you stable at 3.0ghz...
