    Advice of MB Selection...

I am planning to buy a new system. X58 seems to be a better platform now than P55 in the sense of value and overclocking and also the new USB3/SATA6G are also avalilable. The choice I am considering are: 1. ASUS P6X58D PREMIUM 2. GIGABYTE GA-X58A-UD7 If anyone has better suggestions...

LUCID HYDRA 200: Worth Waiting or NOT?

Thanks. Then the VERDICT for this thread can be: LUCID HYDRA 200 is another technology that may do just what they say. But that is questionable as nVidia would LOVE to improve upon there SLI performance and they being a pro is this arena, are not able to do so. So most likely, LUCID HYDRA 200...

LUCID HYDRA 200: Worth Waiting or NOT?

Thanks guys. But do you think that SLI or Crossfire employs some sort of load balancing? What I know is that they either use different card for different frames or divide the frame into smaller segments. That is not actually load balancing but considering that different frames will not be vastly...

LUCID HYDRA 200: Worth Waiting or NOT?

Is Lucid Hydra 200 based MSI Motherboard going to give better performance than Crossfire or SLI? Or it is just another marketing effort?

Getting colored pixilation "snow" on my 5870

Try getting it replaced. Most likely bad VRAM.

Best non-integrated alternative to AMD 785G chipset mobos?

Not exactly. You can use Hybrid Crossfire later. The 58xx supports this mode. So you may get an inch more performance. Also you have a backup GPU just in case the main one burns out (Not likely but happened to me once in 10 years).

    best upgrade for gaming?

I would go for 5870. Or if you want extreme results, 2 x 5870 or 5970. But the later won't give very high performance mainly due to CPU bottleneck. I would suggest the previous as it is a future safe investment.

MSI OC Genie Vs ASUS TurboV?

Thanks. I think that answers the overclocking for novice. "Use the ASUS BIOS option or OC Genie and then stress test your system to check stability." However, I haven't read the reviews about the OC Genie from the forum but it can be mainly due to the usage of stock cooling. When one overclocks...

MSI OC Genie Vs ASUS TurboV?

I agree with aigomorla that the best way to determine a good stable level using these software utils and then set it manually through the BIOS. However, OC Genie is hardware based solution rather than TurboV which is entirely software (correct me if I am wrong). Also the overclocked resulting...

MSI OC Genie Vs ASUS TurboV?

Greetings all, I was going over the reviews and it seems that all overclocking reviews that I came across did not cover the so called ONE BUTTON OVERCLOCK feature except for the Guru3D article on the latest MSI TRINITY MB. Can anyone tell me what ASUS TurboV actually is? And is the same...

Just one more thing. I changed the view of device manager to connection and the HDD is on "Standard AHCI 1.0 Serial ATA Controller\IDE Channel 0\Hitachi HTS541616J9SA00 ATA Device". There seems to be no device on any channel 2.

    Windows 7 freezes erratically...

Thanks for the reply. Yes. There are many many controller errors. The one that is many is "The driver detected a controller error on \Device\Ide\IdePort2." I opened the device driver manager to check the Physical Device Object Name of my hdd and it is "\Device\Ide\IdeDeviceP2T0L0-4". Is it...
