If your old hard drives have an OS installed from a previous computer (Or old hardware) It would be advisable to re-install the OS. However you can try booting the PC in safe mode and going into device manager and un-installing all drivers and re-booting the system. This may allow you to boot...

Looking for a quiet, 650w PSU for gaming

This so true. I have worked in IT and retail PC repair and found so many times cheap PSUs are used in systems and cause so many headaches (probably hundreds of systems.) People never want to spend money on a good PSU and don't realize how much they are asking a cheap power supply to do. I always...

I agree! I own this same PSU and love it. It's very sturdy and I can hardly hear it.

I have not checked this setting yet. I will take a look when I get home from work.

Delidded my i7-3770K, loaded temperatures drop by 20°C at 4.7GHz

I had this same problem. I got an NZXT 120mm fan at MC and was unable to mount it. I was a bit disappointed. So for now I am using the CM 212+ fan and like you noted my min temps seem to stay the same but under load temps have dropped a lot.

Delidded my i7-3770K, loaded temperatures drop by 20°C at 4.7GHz

I am very happy with the ZT-10D so far. Got it at MC for $18.00 which I consider a great investment considering the quality of the heatsink. I will say that de-lidding and using Liquid Metal Ultra / Pro has had the most significant impact on temps. I guess I should consider myself fortunate with...

Delidded my i7-3770K, loaded temperatures drop by 20°C at 4.7GHz

I de-lidded my CPU a few months ago and was getting temps in the low 80's MAX (Intel Burn Test high stress) with my 3570K running at 4.6 with a fixed voltage @ 1.25 and cooler master hyper 212 using Liquid Metal Ultra under the IHS and on the HSF and IHS. I just switched to the zerotherm zt-10d...

    Gigabyte P35 DS3L vs DS3R vs DS3P

I own the Gigabyte P35-DS3R and I know the main difference is the RAID support. The DS3R supports RAID 0, 1, 5, and 10. I think the board also has more power phases than the DS3L. The DS3P has better heatsinks and a heatpipe and supports only RAID 0 and 1. But is a good motherboard for OCing if...

Lapped my i7-3770K and there was zero improvement in operating temperatures!?

I think the main issue with Ivy Bridge's high temps is the thermal paste Intel used between the die and IHS. A few friends and I have removed the IHS on Ivy and re-applied new high-end thermal paste and that makes a significant difference in performance. I know people who have also used liquid...

Microsoft is committing suicide with Windows 8

How you can "Like" Windows ME is a mystery to me. It was the most unstable OS I ever had the misfortune of using.

kpo6969 I just realized that you were able to get the RAM working according to the mushkin forum. Just curious what version of the BIOS you are running? I am still on 1.8 and thinking about updating to ver 2.

I am at work right now but will get my settings posted as soon as I get home. Funny you should link the post from Mushkin forums I also wrote that a while back when I was looking at getting this RAM working but found this board is picky with 2133 RAM. My friend had problems with his RAM at that...

    Cardboard computer case risks?

Ha ha so true. I take pride in my cases and could never have a cardboard case unless it was a joke.

    Cardboard computer case risks?

Those ReCompute PCs are super ugly. Also I don't want to imagine what the cases look like after a few years of dust has built up on the inside and outside. Anyone with dust allergies would know that is not going to be fun.
