what kind of p4 with asus-p5ad2-pre

A P4 540 LGA775 should be one of the most sufficient CPUs around for the Socket, If you got the extra money, going up a level to the 550 or 560 wouldn't hurt.

    775 P4s PROS & CONS

Well cons??, Prescotts run extremely hot, they don't overclock that great, and in most applications; such as games the Prescott does extremely bad, depending on which model you have. They are fairly more expensive than AMD64 CPUs. On the otherhand for the Pros? Prescotts along side with alot...

Oh okay, but doesnt that entirely depend on your cooling??

    "simple" case question

I would have to agree on that. Buying generics PSU can result in dramatic measures. As you obviously know, generic PSUs are cheap , and this is in most cases, are because they have a defieciency in technology, one to name is Inbuilt Power Surge Protect. If there was a storm and your PSU didn't...

Now that the DFI NF4 boards are out...

True, but thats only if your that desperate to use SLI. From what I know, two 6600GTs running in SLI cannot even compare to a single 6800GT in most applications, whether it be running simple tasks or playing games. If you want more info, google it or use any search engine you wish.

Beginners Questions > Good ones I promise!

Actually, they kind of do; as the overall timings affect the overall speed of the RAM and that affects the performance that the CPU has to offer. Only AthlonXPs fluctuate when the HTT/FSB - Depending on Intel or AMD, and RAM FSB are asynchronous. Otherwise, AMD64's benefit if the RAM and HTT/FSB...

    nForce 3 & 4

They are entirely different chipsets, so comparison is something that cannot be done. Though, there are some features that make each chipset stand out. nForce4 on one hand can come in the model called SLI, which was mentioned before. nForce4, well the majority of them support only the Socket939...

    difference on RAM

Yes you can run them at that configuration. As long as both modules are of the same type and size, the motheboard BIOS will automatically pick them up as Dual-Channel, otherwise; if they don't than most likely there is something wrong.

Need some help and advice about memory timings...

Thats one of the worstest scenarios that could occur. One tip that I advised you to follow, always keep the tRCD and tRP values equal, for example; 2-2 or 3-3, they are one of the most vital timings in RAM for some reason. If your lucky you would be able to run and boot your computer up, but I...

    Dual-VGA War

Just through some facts that ATi Press Release has showned, a standard X850XT - one of the only Radeon cards to support MR Technology, alreadly achieves the same performances ratings that a 6800Ultra achieves alone, but the one question I'm wanting to find out is....If SLI offers users a ~90%...

    Dual-VGA War

Not long ago, nVidia amazed the public with their latest gimmick to improve their sales and overall gaming performance with SLI. SLI is in other words gave the user the ability to use two VGA's at the same time, allowing them to share their performances to give you a much higher overall...

    Z680 stands

I think only Creative support that feature, otherwise, you might have to purchase them seperate or build some of your own.

    LCD choice

I have the BenQ 937 not a while a go, but sold it to a dear friend of mine. The monitor is great in most aspects, but there is other monitors that you should put some consideration into. CMV's CT-720D with an 8ms Response Rate, True 16.7m colors, high cd/m2 ratings, along as high Contrast...

    3500+ or 3800+

Though, only a small amount of people managed to get past 3800+ speeds, as the majority of them cannot even past the 3500+ mark and run it stable.

    DDR2 4300 memory

You don't always have to get modules that are identical in brand, as long as they are of the same size and type, they will suffice. But generally, modules that come in a pack together with identical size, type as well as brand, are pre-optimized to obtain low latencies and fast timings. Thats...
