Tri or Quad-Core GPU Beast for CUDA Compute - What Hardware?

The plan as of now is to run more than one independent code per GPU. I could see why this is a problem if all the codes are waiting for memory accesses. Care to elaborate? Thanks! You may have a point. If the CPU can run the program as a whole faster, then we should use the CPU. As it...

Tri or Quad-Core GPU Beast for CUDA Compute - What Hardware?

GREAT to see another HPC user in this thread. Mfenn, I completely agree, but our datasets may exceed the size of the device memory, in which case, we have no choice. Of course, we're going to optimize for data reuse as much as possible, and I can't tell you exactly how we're going to do...

Tri or Quad-Core GPU Beast for CUDA Compute - What Hardware?

The use would be for high performance computing, not a grid application. On the GPU, the number crunching power is so great that we really want to avoid having to wait for memory accesses, and transferring over the PCI-E bus is where a real bottleneck could potentially be. I'd just prefer to...

Tri or Quad-Core GPU Beast for CUDA Compute - What Hardware?

Hey guys, I wanted to spec out a tri or quad-core GPU system for CUDA compute.Basically, I want to see how many GFLOPS performance per dollar I can get out of a machine. The budget is under $1500, but surprise me if you can get a really great GFLOPS/dollar performance out of something that...

Best Gaming LCD as of Sept 2007?

I saw Xtnight say that he didn't see any panel improvements in the near future, so I couldn't pass up the latest 206BW deal (after all, it also got zero input lag on DigitalVersus). I got it for $251.74 with free shipping, and there's a $20 rebate I have to fill out, bringing the total to...

Best Gaming LCD as of Sept 2007?

so I was unable to get the Iiyama I wanted... was going to cost me over a cool $650 to my house... now I have $400 burning a hole in my pocket... what should I get? Is there anything better than the 206BW yet?

Best Gaming LCD as of Sept 2007?

Not yet. I'm apparently waiting for an email from a UK retailer. I did manage to find another review on the e2201w though: http://www.pcpro.co.uk/labs/12...a-prolite-e2201wb.html Does anyone know if there's anything new out there right now that could compete with the e2201w or the samsung...

Best Gaming LCD as of Sept 2007?

Lock your framerate at 120, and if your graphics card will handle it, you'll be double vsync and dropping every other frame, but it'll look great. Your eyes won't be able to catch it if you can keep 120 constant.

Best Gaming LCD as of Sept 2007?

Wow, that's pointless and dizzying - inserting black frames to remove image persistence? Hopefully these new 22" non-overdrive 2ms TN panels will decrease the need for this bad idea.

Best Gaming LCD as of Sept 2007?

That's news to me! I wonder why that is? Is it a DVI bandwidth limit? What is all this I hear about some 120Hz LCDs coming out (which I assume will be running at least 1366x768)? How will they counter this limit?

Radeon HD 2900 Pro / HD 2900 GT

:( I was hoping we would have some fun trying to unlock pipes, but it's just underclocked. I miss the old days

AlucardX: I'm not sure. One of Iiyama's US sales reps is helping me get one, and I'll ask him once he e-mails me back when they plan on releasing them in the US. I found a pretty comprehensive review of the e2201w if someone wants to take a look (translated from French)...

Not bad! Definitely sounds better for gaming than the 20WMGX2. Heard of any others with a similar panel?

those Samsungs are always a gamble, and the Iiyama on digitalversus outperforms them.

    Acceptable FPS

IMO there should be a double-vsync option in games that caps your fps at twice that of your monitor's refresh rate (this would be great for Half-Life 2 based games in which you need over 100FPS to update to and from fast gameservers). It would also make games look MUCH smoother :D
