Thanks! I am working on tile floors and have successfully put on the Hyper 212 EVO. Thank you YouTube for having so many tutorials on how to do it. :) That's probably the scariest part for me. The second part is mounting it into the case. Other than those two things, I've done everything...
As a matter of interest, here is my final build:
i7-3770k : $330
Gigabyte Z77X-UD3H: $110 (after rebate, newegg.ca)
16gb DDR3 1800mhz ram: $150 (I originally wanted to ramp down to 1 stick of 8gb but they didn't have it)
Hyper 212 Evo: $30
Corsair 200R: $47 (after rebate, newegg.ca)
Corsair...
Hi guys,
Thanks again for the feedback!
That's probably true. I thought all Xeon chips were server grade ... shows how much I know!
Question: I saw a Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus at tigerdirect store today. Is it the same as the EVO version?
I think I'm more or less decided to...
Got it. I'll try and get at least 1600mhz
Unfortunately, my RAM is indeed DDR2-800. But it's actually only 8GB (4x2GB) and not 16GB as I had previously thought.
Thank you for the advice! I think maybe what I'll probably do. I will get spend the extra $50 and get the "k" and a Z77...
Thanks for all the replies! Learning a lot here. :)
My main concern with overclocking is the wear and tear on processor and my lack of expertise when it comes to cooling. We don't change computers that much and we kinda pass our computers around at home ... Mom is still using a P4 2.66ghz...
Thank you all for your suggestions!
Thanks. I guess I would lean towards the i7 for the VT-d. I guess you're right, because I definitely do not have two video cards, only one big one that takes up all the room.
It's kind of real time, but there's buffering in front and it's definitely not...
Hi everyone,
Looking to upgrade my '08 desktop (C2D).
85% video editing, capturing, encoding and possibly transcoding/streaming. Music editing and input. 10% light gaming (World of Warcraft doesn't need to be on ultra) 5% virtualization software (virtualbox).
$500-600. I already have hard...
My budget is below $200, with the provision that if something hit $250 I would still consider it. I live in Canada, but I think it's more or less equal to USD right now. The local store had Asus DirectCU 6850 for $179.99, but with a $20 mail in rebate. The 6950 would've been amazing, but...
Great! Thanks :) I'll definitely look into getting a quad processor when I have the budget again. Actually, I snuck out at lunch time and got the 6850. :) It might bottleneck for now, but when I get my new comp, I'll get another one and Crossfire them! I guess at this point, anything is...
Thank you for your prompt reply and your point about CPU bottleneck! I hadn't considered that before.
I think the motherboard (P5K-E) is LGA775, and if i understand correctly, this means that the most I can upgrade is to a quad core version of the Core 2 Duo series. The computer store down the...
Hi everyone,
I'm reading these reviews for graphic cards and they talk a lot about 2560x1600 resolutions so I was wondering if anyone can help me find a good single slot card upgrade. Due to motherboard (Asus P5K-E) and space constraints, I'm looking to upgrade my graphics card for 22"...
