Hi!
I got ~$650 to pend on a MOBO+RAM+CPU+VideoCard
I have been thinking of:
P4 1.8A Retail
1x512MB stick ofSamsung _Original_PC2700 RAM
EPoX EP-4G4A+
LeadTek GF4 Ti4200 ViVo w/128MB
What do you guys think?
I'm pretty much O.K. with everything except the MOBO.
I heard a lot of stories...
I don't mind spending an extra $25 for the 1.8A over the 1.6A.
I just don't know if it overclocks well OR if I can get higher speeds with the 1.8GHz chip.
Board will probably be an EPOX 4G4A+ w/512MB of PC2700 RAM made by samsung (original)
I haven't decided yet about the videocard, probably...
I just read on another thread that the 4G4A+ is not a great overclocker.
Now I see that gsethi has his 1.6A overclocked to 2.6 using a 4G4A+ and some Samsung DDR333 RAM.
That is an awesome overclock, considering it is only air-cooled...
I would also like to buy this...
After realizing that the the "new" updated core of AthlonXP is nothing but a slight improvment, I have now decided to go with an Intel P4 rig.
My questions are:
*Last time I read the 845D chipset was the best for O/C that 1.6 "NorthWood" to ~2400-~2500 and even more.
1) Is it still my best...
Title says it...
I was thinking of buying the MSI GF4Ti4200 w/64MB RAM.
It is the cheapest I could get, where I live...
It will be paired with the following:
AMD AthlonXP 1800+
AMD approved HSF,Case and PSU
EPoX EP-8K3A
256MB of PC2100 DDR-RAM (266MHz)
WD Caviar SE w/8MB cache 80GB (800JB)
Is...
I'll be visiting US in July and would like to shop there for computer parts.
I guess 'ThoroughBred' will be out by then, and so I have built this spec:
AMD Thoroughbred (of some speed...)
EpOX/ABit/MSI/Asus MOBO
512MB DDR-RAM
GeForce4Ti4200
My questions are:
1) At what speed will the...
I'm too interested to know what is better, for home-use:
2x40GB Maxtor D740X (FB) - Raid 0 - on a HighPoint HPT372 controller OR:
1x80GB WD SE w/8MB cache
10x!
10x oldfart!
Looking forward to having a sig such as yours!
Are you familier with memory sticks offered by 'TwinMOS'?
Those are the only sticks that have Samsung made chips on them, where I live.
Should I still go with those or with the Mushkin PC2700 RAM, which is far expensive?
Thanks you guys!
The problem is that i live in Israel.
So, the Ti4200 will arrive here very late and would cost a lot more than it does in the US (trust me on this one...), as most of the products!
As for the LE, a "real" Radeon 8500 costs in Israel 50% more than the LE version. sometimes...
