My LAN card tranfer rate probably 10Mbps can upgrading LAN card with higher transfer rate solve the problem ?

I am currently using realtek RTL8139(A) for my athlonXP 1800+ and my pentium 3 733 ,when playing diablo 2 LoD sometime getting problem like "fast forward" effect ,can I do something like change the setting for make my LAN game more stable ?

oh yeah my headphone I think already simulate that (dolby).

there is no option like that ,but i found a headphone setting in creative software .If i max all sound the other sound like too loud.
