Computer screen was blinking last night, apps were disappearing, task manager would come up fine. Assumed windows was acting up, decided to reformat but cannot access BIOS. When I restart i get a black screen until home creen, badly blinking. Unplugged HD to prevent windows from causing...
Hi,
I am looking to build my parents a decent everyday computer, no gaming or video editing etc. Not much storage will be needed so I will be using a SSD.
Using your $500 build, would there be any complications from omitting the video card and using the integrated graphics? Would I scale...
under the power limits I set short at 500, long at 500, long duration at 1, and core current limit at 300, all recommendations from

I am leaning towards 4.4, 1.3v. The comp is temporarily in the attic, so I think max temps will be closer to 60c when it moves downstairs.
Can anyone tell me why at 4.8 the comp was stable but the multiplier and voltage kept fluctuating between 4.8 and 3.3?
specs:
HAF 912, no extra fans (yet)
ASRock z68 pro3 gen3
i5-2500k
Hyper 212+
G.Skill sniper 1600 1.25v 9-9-9-24
Antec EA-650
This board has voltage adjustments in .05 increments, thus the +50mv, +100mv, etc
all Prime is blend test
PLL overvoltage, power saving mode and spread spectrum...
Thanks everyone for the helpful comments...
decided to go with a spinpoint f3 1tb for 10$ more, and sapphire 7850 came back in stock on newegg today, so got that.
final build is:
asrock pro3 gen3
i5-2500k
hyper 212
g.skill sniper 1.25 8gb 1600
antec ea-650w
m4 128gb ssd

I was under the impression the gains were not that noticable if using a discrete graphics card for gaming and everyday tasks, but will look into it. When I started putting a system together it was months away, guess I put it out of mind...
1. What YOUR PC will be used for. That means what types of tasks you'll be performing.
gaming, family use.
2. What YOUR budget is. A price range is acceptable as long as it's not more than a 20% spread
~1000, but flexible if the performance gain is tangible
3. What country YOU will...
Here's the thing: my asus board defaults to a cpu/nb voltage of 1.375 when its on auto. I have seen from other posts that the default should be 1.2. I tried raising it up to 1.4 and still could not get 2600. I tried lowering it to 1.3 and it would not POST. should I try the nb volt instead, even...
thanks for the info. to sum up, I was able to OC to 16.5x (3.3) while keeping heat below 50C. I got NB to 2400, but it would not run stable at 2600. Also, my OCZ reaper ddr3 1600 would not run stable at 1600 and 7-7-7-24 stock, but I got it to run stable at 1333 6-6-6-18, which I felt was a good...
bought 4gb of OCZ reaper ddr3 1600 7-7-7-24 1.9V, but can't get it to run stable at those settings. I was able to get it Prime95 and OCCT stable at 1333 at 6-6-6-18 1T 1.9V. Is there any downside to running it at 1333 instead of 1600? My other specs:
ASUS m4a78t-e mobo
x3 720BE at 3.4, stock...
you just missed a great deal on a MSI 4850 512mb OC edition for $75 after $60MIR at newegg. item now says deactivated, but if you can find it elsewhere it comes with an upgraded HF and OCs nicely.
ran prime95 with fan on high and cpu temp was only 2C lower at around 51C; still don't think I could bump up the multiplier from 16.5 to 17 without getting close to 60.
I did get a hypertransport sync flood error while running OCCT GPU test to check out the MSI at 700/1180. Is this related...
