    Computer sound card not working

I just checked, onboard is enabled within BIOS. I rechecked with Ubuntu LiveCD and I can get sound out of the PCI card but not onboard. However I still cannot get PCI sound working in WinXP.

    Computer sound card not working

My motherboard has an nForce2 chipset and sound used to work in the past but stopped working. Checked all the normal stuff, make sure it wasn't muted, volume was turned up, speakers are working, no bad devices in device manager, removed/reinstalled devices in device manager. Since that...

How does memory addressing with integrated video cards work

If I am running a 32b OS I have 4GB of address space available. Assuming 3GB of system RAM and a 1GB discrete video card RAM I am using 100% of available address space. If I have 4GB system RAM and an integrated video card, how much of the address space is used by the video card? Does it...

    Chipset fan struggling (updated)

I actually have one lying around (specifically the Zalman ZM-NB47J) and uploaded a pic of the instructions from the back: http://img380.imageshack.us/my.php?image=img3639ux4.jpg My guess is that the chipset has an auto-shut off temp which is protecting it from permanent heat damage. I've...

PSU or mobo, only way to find out is to test with a known working one.

    Chipset fan struggling (updated)

It comes with cooling paste (you can tell from the pics). I used some Artic Silver I had lying around anyway, but any thermal paste will work. From what I remember, you will need to remove your motherboard to mount a bracket on the other side. Even if I remember incorrectly and there is no...

Windows Install issues on a new build

Skimmed through most of it, seems like an OS issue. From what I can tell you tried installing a new mobo / CPU with an old OS. You probably should've cleared out the device manager so Windows would reinstall new hardware upon starting, but it looks like it's giving you trouble. Burn and try...

Speaker Static and weird noises help!

Plug in a different set of speakers to test if it's a speaker or sound card problem. However, it probably is some sort of electrical interference from the sounds of it. You may try buying a cheap sound card and using that instead to see if it helps.

    Chipset fan struggling (updated)

I have the same cooler on multiple motherboards and it works fine. The only question is if your video card sticks past the PCI-e / AGP slot over the north bridge chipset or not. Since the heatsink is rather tall, if your video card blocks above the chipset then you won't be able to use it.

Computer crashes in clean XP install but Ubuntu is fine

Two clean installs of WinXP Pro and Ubuntu dual-boot. I'm trying to install WinXP SP2 but it keeps crashing (I know the file is good). From my source computer and destination computer I'll the md5 checksum is correct. However when I boot into WinXP and run Cygwin -> md5sum it gives me wrong...

    Weird power issues

I have some weird power problems with my computer. When I turn on my computer sometimes it works. When it doesn't work I get a blank screen (no POST), mobo lights are on, and all I can do is power off and retry until the system works. Sometimes when I hit the power on the computer comes on...

iCalendar program for Windows Mobile 6?

Well even if I did get a hosted Exchange account I wouldn't know how to get it working on my Linux boxes, and I wouldn't want to switch over either as I primarily use Sunbird/Rainlendar anyway.

iCalendar program for Windows Mobile 6?

Actually I use Sunbird on a WinXP desktop / Ubuntu desktop. I've looked into a few solutions but they all involve OS X.
