For the V9560, the reference nVidia driver works OK whereas even the updated ASUS driver from the ASUS website crashed my Windows 98 SE (M/B K8V, Athlon 64 3000+) every time. Thus: nVidia. But why can't ASUS do it right?

Problem solved! Do not use the driver on the supplied CD-ROM. Do NOT use the updated driver from the ASUS website. Rather, use the nVidia reference driver (for FX 5600). Windows boots fine. Program does not crash any more.
