    2005fpw "screendoor" ?

Right I need some members' opinions on this one... I recently purchased a Dell 2005FPW from Dell. I was very happy with my purchase at first, but within minutes I began to notice several problems with it. The backlight was crap - massive leakage in ALL the corners. However, more annoyingly, I...

Besides being widescreen, is there any reason why I should switch from 2001fp to 2005fwp

The black level on the 2005 is much better than that of the 2001 also!

    2005FPW vs. 2405FPW - 2005FPW wins.

gustep, which settings did you change from default on that menu? I'm a bit scared of fiddling with that tbh :P Btw, did anybody find that their screens arrived calibrated with a bias towards green (the sRGB setting)?

    2005FPW vs. 2405FPW - 2005FPW wins.

Koitsu, I've got another suggestion for ya... Something I just remembered. These screens are indeed very different beasts (one being a PVA and the other an S-IPS) and thus need configuring in different ways. You should use the sRGB values on both screens as an indicator for the optimum...

    2005FPW vs. 2405FPW - 2005FPW wins.

As I haven't ever used that card, I can't swear it will. But common sense dictates that it will have no problem running at 1920x1200. I'm sure there's plenty of cards that will also work with the 2405FPW that Dell aren't even aware of. As the eVGA card you're refering to is one of the latest...

    2005FPW vs. 2405FPW - 2005FPW wins.

Also, for those looking at both screens... The 2405 absolutely DWARFS the 2005. When it comes to impressiveness, there's no doubt is is the daddy. Not only that, but the component input makes it extremely attractive, as does the 1080i/p support.

    2005FPW vs. 2405FPW - 2005FPW wins.

Yeah I was referring to my move from the 2001 to 2005. I'm glad the thread starter is going to get a replacement, as re-reading his description of the sharpness makes me cast serious doubt on the quality of his particular screen that he was using. Like I said, the only real annoyance I've...

    2005FPW vs. 2405FPW - 2005FPW wins.

This has been my upgrade path of late: 2001FP -> 2005FPW -> 2405FPW The 2001FP I had for almost a year, and was very happy with it. I decided to upgrade to the 2005FPW to get a brighter screen that would also allow me to experience gaming in widescreen. I was very happy with my 2005 for the...

Dell 2405 FPW ... what am I missing?

wannabe, you're absolutely right that it has taken longer for 8-bit panels to catch up on their brethen 6-bitters, but it IS happening. To say the 2405FPW is "close to first for any 8 bit panel that is 12-16 ms" is very wrong, since the 16ms 8-bit Dell 2001FP/ Viewsonic VP201 has been out for...

Dell 2405 FPW ... what am I missing?

By the way, the same goes for all of Dell's latest models of TFTs IIRC. The 1800FP, 1905FP, 2001FP and 2005FPW are all 8-bit panels I believe. Though they are S-IPS panels, whereas the 2405FPW is the only PVA one.

Dell 2405 FPW ... what am I missing?

Er wait... No, the 2405FPW is an 8-bit PVA screen. You're confusing it with 6-bit TN+ panels.

Dell 2405FPW 24" inch on the way----Now available in US! Who is going to buy this new monster?

slatr, what screen have you come from using prior to owning the 2405FPW? I've been using a 2001FP for the last 8 months and then a 2005FPW for the last few weeks, and am very happy with them, especially in games. The "hardcore gamer" comment you make - could that be applied to just about ANY lcd?

Btw, have any current owners experienced the infamous screendoor effect on this screen?

vaccarjm, can you actually post some more photos of the screen? Perhaps with some games like Far Cry and WoW running on it (especially WoW). You took a really good photo originally, so if you could do the same I'd really appreciate it. Btw, I caved in and ordered one people. Could take 1-2...
