Very important! Temp. Clicking sound from a drive, system went crazy

@robisbell: I will do that as soon as I use one of the approaches described below. @mechBgon: I think I had approx. 20GB (out of 320GB) left, after the file transfer. Your approach would work if you are 100% confident that the cause is malware. But what if the problem is that the HDD is about...

Very important! Temp. Clicking sound from a drive, system went crazy

I have important research and database files on the HDD and some documents on the HDD have a very high sentimental value to me. I don?t have any recent backup (yes, I know). I had my PC on for four consecutive days (in the last 18h it was connected with the www w/o an active firewall). I...

    Temp. prob. w/ pre-boot seq.

I turn my PC on, pre-boot displays drives and a few lines more and stops. I press the power button to turn the PC off. I press the power button again; PC boots flawlessly. One of the fans has been making unnatural noise for months now during the first 6E1-1.2E2 s of being powered on. ~84%...

    Something weird going on

Yesterday, when I went Start=>Turn off computer => Shut down, the PC wasn't shutting down properly. It just went black immediately, just like when you press the power button manually for 5 s. Then the PC restarted automatically. I turned it off again and it worked properly this time. Today...

    UPS

What are the general disadvantages of UPSs? Are they easy to hook up? The power network in my area is pretty unreliable; power outages, voltage spikes etc. are frequent. I have important data and no RAID/backup (technologically inept and lazy ;)), and I want to minimize chances of hard disk...

Checking up on Intel DP965LT memory

This is really pissing me off. Now I can't spend the last week of summer break with my build.

P965 and the 1.8V vDIMM barrier

Do you have the 5-5-5-12? If so, then it's not listed. I think DS3/P5B will eat it though. The question is: Do you need =<1.8V to increase vDIMM, before you can use 1.9V or will DS3/P5B get into the BIOS with 1.9V right away...

P965 and the 1.8V vDIMM barrier

I have the same RAM. Your PDF doesn't list that kit though! In one of the GigaByte DS3 Newegg reviews, Jim writes: "This motherboard, out of the box, will only recognize RAM that can run on 1.8 volts. If your RAM does not work at 1.8 volts, you will need to either get different RAM or...

Let me summarize typical feedback on the Intel P965 chipset so far: - Problems with DS RAM - MDT memory incompatibility - Ecc. memory chips incompatibility - Incompatibility with 7950 GX2 cards - >1.8V vDIMM N/A - Unusual quantity of BIOS weaknesses - Premature FSB and Fast Access...

Intel 965 vs Asus P5B vs Gigabyte DS3

http://www.anandtech.com/showdoc.aspx?i=2797&p=19 This report doesn't have any problems with higher vDIMM, too. Also, I didn't see any complaints in Neweggs reviews of the P5B.

Intel 965 vs Asus P5B vs Gigabyte DS3

Just found this http://forums.anandtech.com/messageview...&STARTPAGE=2&FTVAR_FORUMVIEWTMP=Linear Intel is marketing PC6400 compatibility, but at the same time it restricts vDIMM to 1.8V. No PC6400 RAM I've seen works at <1.9V! The only question that remains: Is this RAM barrier only with...
