Elvis2, I saw your benchmarks on another thread for the GA-8INXP and noticed that you said it could use a floppy for installing drivers and that it was hanging occasionally. Any other negative aspects about this board?

Ack! The SiS 655 memory picky?!! Say it ain't so! I bought the CMX512-3500C2 (DDR433) for the Granite Bay board, hoping that it would pay off for overclocking on the SiS 655. Please let me know if any of you hear more about this. Thanks!

Flakk, I share your pain. I have most of the components for my new system already purchased and am a bit ticked-off that I paid the higher prices at the time. Two months ago, several of the manufacturers assured us that motherboards containing the Granite Bay (E2705) chipset would be released...

I would like to know what this means in terms of video/system performance as well. Intel seems to think that it will not effect performance, but I have to assume that the AGP prefetch cache does something! If you disable it, what does it NOT do? Does anyone know how to translate this? It is...

I just found this on another thread. Intel E7205 Chipset - See Page 9 Errata How is this going to effect performance? I just bought a new All-In-Wonder 9700 Pro 8X video card, and it set me back quite a bit. Does this mean I am not going to get the full functionality out of the video card...

Nice point, Flakk! :) The Asus board is due out in two weeks or less, according to MyInfinity.com. The Gigabyte board is due out in 3-4 weeks, according to several of their resellers. I have no data regarding the Tyan board.

Marlin 1975, Please read the question once again: "If you plan to purchase a Granite Bay motherboard, which will it be?" I would be happy to hear about the SiS655 if you would like to start a new thread. Thanks for your input.

The question is, "How long do you intend to use this system?" Five years ago, I was encouraged to go with 4MB onboard RAM on my Matrox Millenium video card, rather than 8MB RAM. That video card needed to be replaced within two years after purchase to remain compatible with new applications...

BigfootDoug, halkebul and kariokabrs, Which video card would you suggest for a CAD system? Are there trade-offs between gaming / home-theater / and CAD ? If so, what are the trade-offs and fixes? Thanks once again.
