I checked acers support site and the bios notes dont indicate which CPUs are supported. all I could find was P4 class processors in all the model derivatives of that series. I dont really want to risk blowing out a E6300 in it... I ordered a different motherboard, oh well. I mean is there a risk...

I can confirm that my board died after I tried it with the E8400 also. I had the E6600 in there for a year with no problems, put in the E8400 and it wouldnt post. I just figured that it didnt work and never tried the board after that. I ended up selling the board and the person who got it...
That stinks. I saw some things eluding to that but I didnt believe that such a standard feature of forums would be missing. kind of makes it hard to stay in touch with people especially if you are trying to sell stuff. is this something that is in to works at some point as it would be very useful!
