    Threadripper Build

Yeah... I used to buy more more on the value side of things. Probably why I'm an AMD fan. That made a lot more sense when I upgraded every 6 months. Now, I'm far more limited on time than money, so this is what happens.

Where to look for donor drives?

https://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B00450CKHC/ You may be able to see if Seagate can tell you if any other drives from same era/series use the same drive heads. Looks like the ST3160023A might be similar enough.

Where to look for donor drives?

I replied to your other thread, but googling that model number shows it available at Newegg, from E.O.L computers, so I suspect it may be real. https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822148021

Would two of these be a better option? (are they Samsung B die)? https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820232560

I was actually thinking 64 GB if possible. My current rig has 16 and I get out of memory problems sometimes. This was one of my reasons for going to ThreadRipper Maybe this? https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820232559

That does sounds pretty sweet. Any reason you choose the Taichi over the ASUS Zenith (other than price)?

    1. What YOUR PC will be used for. That means what types of tasks you'll be performing. I tend to multi-task a lot - mostly workstation type activities, with a bazillion chrome tabs open, discord. I run 3 screens, if I game, it's usually on the central monitor which is a 3440x1440, using RTS...

    Case for threadripper

I appreciate the info, Interitus. I've been leaning more and more to that case (but with the Tempered glass). I was thinking I'd use a 360 radiator, and probably just end up doing AIO. That Core X9 looks nice, but I'm kinda stuck on tempered glass - gotta have something to narrow my selection...

    Case for threadripper

I've been looking at those double wide's too - like the Lian Li PC-O9 - although the reviews are mixed (although I think that the price point they tend to be more critical)

    Case for threadripper

I've used my DVD drive twice in the last two years (for purposes other than installing Windows) - it was to view a CT/MRI images, which are printed onto DVD. I could probably work around this by just taking the side panel off and plugging it in (or getting a portable drive) I think I'm pretty...

    Case for threadripper

That is a pretty sweet case (the X71). I was leaning towards Evolv, but now I'm having second thoughts on the lack of a CD drive.

    Case for threadripper

Anyone wanna discuss pros/cons of these cases (or make your own suggestion)? I'm buying for a new ThreadRipper build, which will accordingly feature water cooling. I've built many computers in the past, but never a water cooling setup. I'm considering: Phanteks Enthoo Luxe Tempered Glass...
