This is my overclock. I originally had a 4770k that wouldn't go above 4.2Ghz and wasn't stable stock on Prime 95 with different sticks of RAM, memtest, everything. I RMA'd it and got one that now won't go above 4.5Ghz, but is completely stable, which I am OK with, though I really dislike odd...

Isn't the OS constantly pegging the SSD which makes speeds terrible when testing it inside of the install you're using?

Are you running the OS on the SSD being tested?

Ok. I didn't notice there was a new bios update for the G1 Sniper 5. Two versions and more than a month newer in fact. They're shipping them with really old bios. It fixed the CPU temp in the bios, and some other temperature programs for windows. I also found the CPU support list on Gigabyte's...

PH-TC12DX. Yes I cleaned the CPU and Sink properly with Isopropyl before installation. And I'm using the paste supplied with the PH-TC12DX because I only have Arctic Silver 5 left and it sucks. I'm 28-30C idle, but at 4.2 it's still upper 80C with 1.2V. We'll see as the paste starts flowing into...

No stability over 4.2 no matter what I do. 4.2 is where I'll stay! Am I using the right version with AVX? Newest from the prime 95 website? If so, temps are not nearly as high as IBT.

Yeah so, I just got the Phanteks...absolutely no difference between that and the Hyper 212 Evo with the Haswell :rolleyes: Higher idle temps too. I almost think there's something wrong with this 4770k, like the paste under the lid wasn't applied correctly.

Mines looking like a definite dud. I can't get it above 4.2 at all and 4.2 isn't even stable until 1.235v

Nice. My boyfriend just ordered me a Phanteks PH-TC12DX, and I'll have it tomorrow. We'll see how the temps drop from the Evo 212 and maybe I'll be able to get it a bit higher!

If you don't need power management, just turn auto off and set the voltages yourself. My motherboard set mine to 1.296V stock, which is ridiculous :eek:. I went in and set it to 1.090V stock frequencies and it was idle and cool.

Yeah I'm curious what voltage you get stable at 4.2Ghz and how hot it is on the Phanteks.

HWMonitor didn't work with my CPU. Have you tried realtemp? Though you are running stock I guess. This is as high as I can get the CPU on prime95 in large FFT or blend.

Prime95 makes my 4770k yawn and sit at 64C on full load. Linpack/IntelBurnTest makes it cry. Try IntelBurnTest on maximum.

Likely. The setup in my signature only uses ~220W playing BF3. about 200W running Linpack. I'd go with a 500W to be safe though.
