    securing against pron

I see your point, i knew it wasn't his kid but he is involved in this whether he likes it or not. And it seems to me that the parents are aware of the pron but fail to be doing much about it. Perhaps goosemaster should try talking to the parents about it. The poor kid will end up pregnant...

    securing against pron

IMHO spending hours and hours trying to police this computer user is futile. You are not addressing the problem at hand, merely trying to sweep it under the carpet and hope that it goes away. This kid needs to talk to someone about this, otherwise it will never go away, and probably just...

    PC Beeps Incessantly

There was a virus that caused the internal speaker to play a sound or some kind of tune at startup. Is it immediately when you switch on before POST? or is it when windows loads up?

Odd problem, network working, but cannot access Internet.

I was going to suggest that but usually you cant get an IP addy when that's the problem. Oh well you learn something new every day. Anyway, that's a classic for spyware that. Adds its own network settings in then totally corrupts TCPIP when its removed. NEW DOT NET and Cool web search are...

They are full versions of NT4. Interestingly enough, the day after we installed the new server we forgot to add in the 50 additional per seat licences. When the user limit breached the default 5, no-one could connect with the EXACT same error message that they get now. Its almost like the...

    Repairing HP Laptops

The CAT5 Cable no longer 'clicks' into place when pushed into the LAN Port, it was no way deliberate either - it was more a slow degradation of quality because i noticed it slowly getting more loose and loose as time went on. I can understand HP's point of view because ive seen loads of lan...

    Giga Switch and Cabling

Standard CAT5 Cable works with Gigabit Ports, as long as the ends have been 'ended' correctly. Standard European is from left to right, light orange, orange, light green, blue, light blue, green, light brown, brown. If its straight through cabling it will not work.

Double click on My computer, in the address bar type www.google.com, this will test the connection In the windows browser. Other than that, it sounds like a DNS issue.

    Repairing HP Laptops

Hello All, I recently had the pleasure of being told by HP that the damage to my LAN port on my compaq nx9010 was deliberate (which it wasnt). This invalidated the warranty and they have quoted £126 for repair of the said LAN port. I am an experienced computer technician and feel that i...
