    q9450 questions...

That's interesting. I am looking to purchase a IP35 PRO and a Q9450 within the next month or two. I don't have any spare LGA775 processors lying around. Could I buy a cheap Celeron, use it to do the BIOS upgrade, and return the CPU? Has anyone tried this?

    Is nTune worth a damn?

I destroyed an NF3 mobo once using nTune to OC from within Windows. I ended up having to RMA the thing. Don't use nTune.

What exactly is light? And why is "the speed of light" considered to be fastest anything can move?

Are you perhaps thinking of the "seamless whole", or Einstein's "spooky action at a distance"? If so, then that's kind of like information moving faster than C (in a 3-dimensional way).

    Earth Rotation

I've always been intrigued by M-Theory more than String Theory, since M seems to use Many Worlds to explain the Big Bang (two branes colliding), dark matter (gravitons leaking off other membranes onto ours), etc.

Why "60 Terahertz" for conciousness ?

The true intelligence of our brain comes from the "software", not the "hardware". I don't care how fast computers become, even optical- or quantum-based. Until you either develop "intelligence" software, or give the computer the means to write its own software in some sort of iterative...

Do you believe about Apollo moon landing in 1969 ?

The fact that people still believe that the moon landings were faked is a sad testimony to the education system, particularly to the teaching of science. The same people who spout conspiracy theories are the same people 100 years ago who sold snake oil. With some authentic-sounding words and...

    FreeBSD or Linux?

Thanks! I did some digging and found it had an amtel chipset, and found a Sourceforge project for drivers for it. My adapter is listed in its USB table, so I'll try that. I noticed that table also lists the Linksys WUSB11, but only v2.1 and v2.6. I have no idea which version it is that...

    FreeBSD or Linux?

I already have a spare Belkin F5D6050 USB 802.11b. If that didn't work, I thought about picking up a Linksys WUSB11 from NewEgg for $14 AR ($39-$25 MIR).

    FreeBSD or Linux?

Some recent upgrades have caused me to have a spare P3-600 MHz (w/ 384MB RAM and GF2-MX400 AGP video), and I'd like to run Linux on it. Since its a spare, I just need it for basic web surfing, email, office, mp3s, samba etc. It also needs to work w/ a wi-fi card, as it will be upstairs, and...

Reaction to the Intel Dual Core Article

Anyone see the this article at The Inquirer?: http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=22332 He's basically calling out Anand, and says Anand's a sellout and his reviews are for sale. Yikes. Rebuttal?

    Need under-$50 card for HTPC

Thanks for the suggestions. I ended up getting this one: http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=14-102-444&depa=1 Since it was a 9250 and 128-bit (and fanless). No NewEgg reviews, so I guess I'm the first.

    Need under-$50 card for HTPC

I appreciate the mobo suggestion, but I've already got one; my old one from my Athlon XP 2000 system. I just need a video card so I can hook it up to the TV. Between a GF4 440, GF4 4000, and Radeon 9250, which one is best? Oh, and does anyone know how many bits this one is...
