Already taken the decision to jump to Intel.
- Only use 2 speakers and so the Santa Cruz is good enough.
- Currently still on dial up (boradband isn't that cheap in the UK yet) and only need one LAN socket at most - I only use it when I connect my ancient laptop or if I connect to my second...
Still using my 8HKA+
It's a very good board - high overclocks are possible if you're cards can take the PCI and AGP bus speeds. It's still my main board at the moment.
TbredA 1700+@2100+
Depends on what you want to use the system for....
My Geforce3Ti200 64Mb o/c 250/550 is getting a little long in the tooth (GTA:VC can be a bit slow - particularly with helicopters)
Okay current system

The VIA controller is a rebaged Promise one - Via Bought Promise
Intel have only brought drivers for the ICH5R Southbridge when running in RAID mode, which may affect the results.
WHat do you think the chances are of a free swap for the new version which supports Prescott?
Now says something about New Power design supports Future Prescott Processors. I suspect that is a new revision. However, would you get a PAT enabled model?
No problems here running the deluxe model with a P4 2.0Ghz Northwood C-1 Stepping @2.9GHz Dual channel or 3.0Ghz Single channel@ Default VCore. :D (On the very first boot it didn't post - but a reboot and setting the BIOS options and it was fine)
Memory: Crucial 256Mb PC2100 CAS 2.5...
Usually when the BIOS corrupt message appears the bios is not corrupted. You are simply overclocking too far and need to shut down, restart (pressing Insert?) go into the BIOS and turn down the settings. Happened to me the other day. Unless you are flashing a BIOS or have a virus it's difficult...
My brother's got an Abit KG7-RAID + MP1400 and is considering an upgrade. He's got a Geforce 2Pro which he's intending to change for a Geforce4 Ti4200.
The big question is motherboard and processor. The KG7 will take upto a 2100+. Is it worthwhile upgrading to this CPU or would there not be a...
There's an article in the main part of anandtech on overclocking the 2MX card.
Basically you need to add the Coolbits reg-key and off you go. Overclocking the memory gives better results as that is the bottleneck.
One thing which does concern me about the Kyro II is drivers. I haven't any experience of the Kyro 1 but the original PowerVR cards were badly let down by substandard drivers and a lack of support, both by the software industry and the manufacturers. It does make me a little hesitant about...
I suspect that it's a VE not and LE. The VE is aimed at the business market - it has dual monitor support, only has a 64 bit memory bus and no Hardware TnL. Hence their performance is pants in games.
I've only heard of LE Radeons as AGP cards, with 128 bit memory. I think they all have DDR RAM...
There is a known bug in Sisoft Sandra which makes it misreport the PCI speed on the KT133a chipset when working at 133MHz. It's mentioned on the Sisoft website)
The PCI bus is working at 33MHz (via a 1/4 divider) so there is no need to panic.
One thing I have been wondering is does the IWill hit the stupidly high FSB because it has poor memory timing? All the reviews have said it's great that it has the highest FSB but the memory bandwidth is naff. I suppose we'll have to wait until somebody plays with WPCredit on one. Might be...
