Would it be better to use onboard Realtek ALC888 audio on a Gigabyte GA-P55-USB3 motherboard instead of a Creative Audigy 2? If so, why?

Is it OK to screw a motherboard directly onto a case without standoffs? It seems to function properly, but I'm wondering if this could cause problems or if doing this has already damaged it in some way. The screw holes on the case are raised bumps, so I think adding standoffs would prevent it...
