    Z-2300 subwoofer rattling

Are you saying I should try opening it up? All I see on the outside are screws holding the back plate on, and I haven't done anything with those.

    Z-2300 subwoofer rattling

I got these speakers for Christmas, and I thought there were no problems. But, I recently moved the set back to my dorm room, and started noticing a very slight rattle in the subwoofer. It's not really noticeable unless I'm just a few inches from the sub, but it is present even at low volumes...

    Slow Mass Effect Performance

I did a complete reformat when I installed Vista, so that can't be it. The problem with laptop graphics is that Nvidia doesn't support them officially, and Asus only supports 32-bit on this model. I'll try laptopvideo2go, but I'm not sure which driver version would be best. I guess I'll just...

    Slow Mass Effect Performance

I've got an Asus F8SN-B1 Core 2 Duo T8100 @ 2.1Ghz Nvidia 9500m GS 4 gb RAM (upgraded myself) Vista Business x64 (fully updated) Nvidia driver 167.64 With this setup I thought I would get decent performance out of Mass Effect, but that has not been the case. Running at 1360x768 with...

how are Asus and Acer laptops?

I just bougt an Asus F8SN-B1, so far no problems, and I realy like the aesthetic. Haven't had time to really test performance or battery life or anything like that. Before that I had an Acer. Not quite as attractive, cheaper materials and poorer build quality, but it had good performance, and...

    Choosing a Laptop

I've seen that benchmark list, pretty handy site actually. I was more interested in the cpu, how much more performance will the 8100 get me? Will it run cooler or get me more battery life?

    Choosing a Laptop

I'm looking for a laptop that is fairly small, 15.4" or smaller, although 14" is preferred to take to college. I want a video card somewhere in the 8600m range for some occasional gaming. The school I'm going to requires at least a 2 ghz C2D for the processor. I found these two Asus...

Sudden drop in hard drive performance

So I checked device manager and the drive was in PIO mode, I used the manual method desribed in Sink41's link and that fixed the problem. But, I did get some weird results in my benchmark. Here's the screenshot. http://img146.imageshack.us/my...e=hdtachresultsyj3.gif

Sudden drop in hard drive performance

I checked event viewer, and there are a ton of disk errors. The 3 I encountered are: The device, \Device\Harddisk0\D, has a bad block. The device, \Device\Ide\IdePort0, did not respond within the timeout period. An error was detected on device \Device\Harddisk0\D during a paging operation...

Sudden drop in hard drive performance

My ignorance is showing, the fact that it's a sata drive doesn't matter. The computer is still usable and I've had it for two years with no problems. Why would the drive go bad now? I'll look into the pio mode thing, and get back to you.

Sudden drop in hard drive performance

Nice suggestion, but it's a SATA drive.

Sudden drop in hard drive performance

My laptop has seemed noticeably slower the last few days. Startup is slower and programs load slower than they used to. But, once I'm in a program performance is smooth. The startup before I noticed the problem, windows gave me a blue screen (not a BSOD) that said please wait or something like...
