    Canon 100-300 or 55-250 IS?

I have the 55-250 IS and it is not ideal for sports. If this is all that's in your price range I suggest renting the lens first. Most local shops (ma & pa joints) also rent glass out. I don't know if this glass will do well with hokey, sure the ice is bright but are the players faces. I'm just...

    Canon 100-300 or 55-250 IS?

If its sports your shooting, and it's indoors, then you will need IS. That being said - I have the 55-240 IS and it's not intended for low-light shooting. Your shots will be blurry. It's not fast glass as they say, it's still faster than the 100-300 and has IS which helps a little. If you...

I could use some help with my Crossfire :S

3D mark is the easiest and most convienant way to manually see* if XfireX is enabled. It gives a visual output of frames per second, as well as a total score. Why on earth would you not use such a convienant tool? It even gives you a CPU independant score that negates any CPU bottleneck from the...

Will crossfire work on nvidia mobo's ??

From Wikipedia: The xDNA technology is a technology designed by Diamond Multimedia, allowing motherboards which are not certified for ATI CrossFire (for instance, nForce 500/600 series motherboards designed by NVIDIA) to install multiple ATI Radeon video cards (up to four) as a CrossFire...

Will crossfire work on nvidia mobo's ??

Diamond Vid Cards will do Xfire on an NVIDIA mobo, as long as there are two x16 PCIe. Though it would technicaly be SLI even though their ATI cards. Check out xDNA from Diamond.

I could use some help with my Crossfire :S

had same prob... and there is no f'ing info on XfireX anywhere. ATI really needs to put together some kinda FAQ on Xfire. This is the only way I know to install Xfire that both cards work. -From a driver free OS - use ATI uninstaller that comes with their drivers 1. Install first card...

    CrossfireX

After careful planning and execution when I tick the enable CrossfireX under CCC, WinXP BSODs with an error message that: ati2dvag.exe has entered and endless loop etc... In addition to this my CPU now runs between 30-50% constantly due to hardware interrupts. I have checked all my IRQs...

Samsung announces 2 new LCD displays at MacWorld

The only instance dynamic backlighting could improve image quality would be with an LED matrix backlight. Whereas a dark part of an image on a portion of the screen can be dynamically controlled with individual LEDs - as opposed to the entire CCFL backlight.

Samsung announces 2 new LCD displays at MacWorld

I have the 245BW with 3000:1 "dynamic" contrast ratio. Which essentially controls the backlighting. In turn making anything displayed on a black background look dull and flat. I whole-heartedly agree with n7 on the panel quality issue. However, don't give up yet on non TN displays. As we move...

    AMD 3750 AGP

You can pick up an HD2600 Pro AGP for under 100$ USD at Newegg I needed a quick replacement for my AGP and picked up a VisionTek HD2600 Pro for ~100$. Definatly a step down from the X1950 XT, however, I needed to be rid of the AGP ball and chain that was sucking my wallet and time dry.

    OCing C2D with Clockgen

I find clockgen usefull for determining the max OC that is windows stable without having to reboot 100 times. Another great tool is Memset, which allows the setting of your RAMs timings in windows. Concerning the issue with having "software" control your hardware. My solution is to simply set...
