    DVD Database computer

Lend out, that'd be nice. The problem is that we live in a fraternity, where respect is somewhat at a minimum for both privacy and belongings. I have to lock my DVD's up in my safe to keep people from taking them! Not that they get stolen, they just get taken, and then passed around the house...

    DVD Database computer

Well, we're gettin somewhere now. As goofy as it may sound, we're college kids. He's got money for this, but not an HDTV. Plus he has a decently nice 35" Mitsubishi right now, and it suits him fine. In the future though for sure. And if I could find one for 600-700, I'd snatch it up. Anyway...

that's the other thing, I think we're gonna just use two cases, I'm just not sure how exactly to make sure everything is connected and such, let alone how to manage this mass of info

yeah, but you lose some quality, and encoding that many would be an insane amount of work on top of ripping them all off.

    DVD Database computer

I have a friend who wants me to build a computer for him, but I'm a bit confused at how to go about doing so. He owns around 200 DVD's and wants me to build him a computer that he can load all of these onto, so that he can use a computer solely for acessing and watching DVD's. So, I'd like to...

Okay, you wouldn't recommend the MSI board, of the Winchest Core CPU's?

    Is 64 worth it?

Okay, I found a Winchester CPU. And I can see what you're saying with the video cards. I really like the functionality of my nVidia card with the Personal Cinema Package, but I see that ATI offers something similar with the ALL-in-Wonder card packages. I'll keep looking, and thanks for the...

    Is 64 worth it?

Wow, okay. May I ask why about the video card? And as far as the hard drives are concerned, I'm getting two for mainly DVD purposes; burning, holding rips and such. The harddrives, okay, I'll go Seagate, then the price is negligible. And I will trust you on the memory, I've not had any trouble...

    Is 64 worth it?

Okay, if someone more experienced than I would like to shed their opinion on the setup I'm considering, I'd greatly appreciate it. Asus K8N-Deluxe Athlon 64 3200 Nvidia GeForce FX 5200 128 MB (Okay, I know this isn't the most powerful video card, but as of now it's the only one, with out...

    Is 64 worth it?

Okay, that's kinda what I understood. It was enabled, but the support wasn't there simply because of the OS, and of course other software now.

    Is 64 worth it?

Okay, well that does it then. Thanks a bunch guys. I guess what I was concerned about as well, was that as I reviewed the current beta version of Windows XP 64, was that there were a lot of compatabitily problems with things as simple as DVD playing, or Windows media player. I'm sure that will...

    Is 64 worth it?

Okay, I'm sure I'll get yelled at for not reading the other 30 dozen posts pertaining to this, but I thought a direct answer to my question would be better. I built my first computer about 1 year ago, and I'm already looking at buying another. I thought I was convinced that a 64 bit processor...
