Question Intel's future after Pat Gelsinger

From hazy memory of things I don't really understand, There is precedence for a regional office to "go rogue" and align with its local country rather than its global headquarters. I believe it was ARM China. My point is, USA DoD and vendors can move all the Intel people and assets to TSMC USA...

Question AMD Ryzen Threadripper 9000 “Shimada Peak” spotted with 32 and 64 Zen5 cores

Regarding the ECC, we've been running a VMware environment internally for our lab use for probably 15 years - the last 6 have been on plain consumer workstation hardware like AMD Zen3 and without ECC. I've never noticed it being a problem. No random crashes or corruption. And if we did have one...

Question AMD Ryzen Threadripper 9000 “Shimada Peak” spotted with 32 and 64 Zen5 cores

My work finally gave me something I asked for in our VM environment. I'm referring to the RAM kit. I definitely did not ask for the Intel CPU. Threadripper-Who?

Question Intel's future after Pat Gelsinger

Strange article. To me it reads as the ramblings of a delusional self-proclaimed expert. He's interpreting critical failures to achieve very difficult engineering feats as business strategy. Question AMD Ryzen Threadripper 9000 “Shimada Peak” spotted with 32 and 64 Zen5 cores

This space has been slightly tweaked recently by the non-binary memory sticks that are compatible with desktop platforms. Which is to say, the fact that I can buy a Zen system with 192 GB of RAM does slightly reduce the 'market surface area' for the Threadripper product. Reference...

Question With today's power hungry GPU's...and the related power problems...

Igor posted a video a few days ago where a company was designing purpose-built rack-mount computers where the power supply is a stand alone box in the rack, and it provides thick copper rail DC power to any devices that slide into the rack. Let's connect the GPU directly onto this external DC rail.
