That won't get it done because the pw will be required for the flash. Btw, the pw is recorded on a seperae CMOS 'EEPROM' chip. You have to first identify and then replace or re-program that EEPROM (and that job is best left to Sony or some other qualified shop!
That's really too bad, because without proof of ownership Sony won't unlock it for you (due to all of the stolen laptops/notebooks around).
So again, I'm sorry to have to tell you that besides it's parts-value, it's useless!
FlyingPenguin~ Unfortunately, the reset CMOS trick doesn't work for laptops/notebooks! Even most super BIOS passwords won't work for laptops/notebooks!

IntelConvert~ I wished you good luck because the very same problem has been flooding various forums for quite some time. Asus' P4C800 and P4P800 boards (in all of their variations) suffer from this defect. Rather then fix the problem, Asus justs replaces those failed boards under warranty...
If price is of no concern go for the P4C800E Deluxe as it is based on the superor 875 (Canterwood) chipset, whereas the P4P800E Deluxe is based on the less capable 865PE chipset.
