    "ws2dummy.dll"? What is that?

Thanks! I didn't make the connection between "ws" and WinSock. I've used WinSockFix many times, and that's all that it took to fix this problem.

    "ws2dummy.dll"? What is that?

First of all, my desktop PC has issues, but that's beside the point for this post. I recently downloaded Google Desktop 2.0 Beta and attempted to install it, but it says that a "ws2dummy.dll" is currently using some resources that GD needs in order to install. Any idea what this file is? To...

    Javascript help for animation portfolio?

After getting some great ideas from others and taking my own direction with them, I've created some nice HTML, Javascript, and PHP for my new portfolio. Here's how it works. Thumbnails on the right, large frame on the left. I use Javascript (JS) to make the thumbnails change the main image...

    Internet-sharing-computer's DHCP server messed up?

On the ICS computer, yes, it is. BTW, I've even tried these things using just a crossover cable in order to remove the router from the equation.

    Internet-sharing-computer's DHCP server messed up?

(I can never figure out where is the best place for tech support in these forums?Tech Support or topic-specific like Networking?) I have two computers on my home network connected through a D-Link DI-624. Windows XP Pro desktop is the dialing machine that shares its internet with the network...

    Internet-sharing-computer's DHCP server messed up?

I have two computers on my home network connected through a D-Link DI-624. Windows XP Pro desktop is the dialing machine that shares its internet with the network. It's wired to the DI-624. My notebook is Windows XP Home and connects via wired or wireless. I've turned off DHCP on my router since...

    share internet connection

Yes. Right-click your Wi-Fi connection from Network Connections, chose Propertires, go to the Advanced Tab, checkmark "Share this connection ..." If it presents network interface options, pick your NIC. Now just run a crossover cable from your computer to the Xbox and it should work.

    Help with Windowblinds

First off, what skin are you using? Under Basic Settings, ensure that everthing is checked. In User Overrides, ensure that nothing under XP Overrrides is checked. Apply the changes.

Monitor display quickly flickers and expands

I have the same problem with a KDS 19" monitor that is about five years old. However, mine even randomly goes completely black with the power light still on. I have to turn it off and back on to get it back.

    Help with Windowblinds

Yes, your terminology is correct. "Taskbar" is the bottom bar with the Start button, Quick Launch, open programs (or tasks ... hence the name), and "system notification area" (formerly "System Tray"). I use WindowBlinds 4.2. My first thought is for you to try restarting your computer. I think...

    650 Dialup and SMTP problem

I signed up for 650 Dialup about five months ago and have not been able to send email through one of their dialup networks. Here's the crazy thing: it's the exact same network that I previously dialed into with my old ISP, which allowed only their SMTP server, but every SMTP server we've tried...

Use two modems without multilink ISP?

Oh. I forgot to say that I do have two ISP accounts. Yeah, I'm all-too-aware of the broadband explosion, but I'm out of the blast zone and can never hope to have broadband for several years. In another forum, someone mentioned a LAN modem with multiple modems to hook up to my router. Would...

Use two modems without multilink ISP?

No no. You missed my point. I'm looking for something other than dual-side multilink/PPP. Midpoint was supposed to do it but seemed to do a terrible job at it (documentation for the program was quit poorly writen as well). It *IS* possible to do client-only bonding/balancing or whatever you want...
