The Radeon 7850 is an overclocking beast

Warranty is a no go. As well as changing the cooler, modding the BIOS, and overclocking WAY past CCC levels, I also threw away the box and knocked off the warranty void sticker:). My fault, I tool the risks and accept the consequences. Now, how can I mod my 680:)? The really annoyong thing is...

The Radeon 7850 is an overclocking beast

I have flashed back and forth many times. Each flash appears successful, but the card will not output a display and mobo will not post when card is set as primary graphics. It seems some weird combination of an ASUS BIOS on a Powercolor GC with latest GPU Tweak installed has caused catastrophic...

The Radeon 7850 is an overclocking beast

VRM's are fine. I have popped VRM's before, you hear them go and you smell them afterwards. One other snippet of info is that my Maximas V mobo reports error code 62 "PCH error". This indicates that BIOS is not reporting itself to the mobo correctly. I have played BF3 for hours at 1300MHz or...

The Radeon 7850 is an overclocking beast

Maybe, but it was stock at the time. Installing GPU Tweak and then running GPU-Z immediated killed it. No pop, just immediate black screen. I am fairly sure there was no hardware failure. It was a combination of software that did it. Oh well, such is the risk we take when we tamper with things.

The Radeon 7850 is an overclocking beast

..and then she just died It was fun having the fastest 7850 on the planet for a few days, but now she is dead. It was a strange death, and she certainly wasn't stressed at the time. I foolishly attempted to install the latest GPU Tweak for the second time. The first time I tried installing it I...

The Radeon 7850 is an overclocking beast

There are a few cards that have 1.21v as stock voltage, and the ASUS TOP BIOS I use is one of them. All 7870's have stock voltage set to 1.2v or higher so don't worry about it.

The Radeon 7850 is an overclocking beast

You need to enable 4x AA. That will drop your scores down to the mid 50's. The standard bench settings for Heaven are 1080P / 4xAA / Tessellation = Normal. Evrything else stays at default.

That is one beast of a cooler:). No way would it fit my case.

The Radeon 7850 is an overclocking beast

Welcome to the 1300+ club. My card takes 1.25v to be 1300 stable, 1.275v for 1325 and 1.3v for 1350MHz. You could have a better GPU than mine if you reach 1300 at a lower voltage. What are your temps like at 1300? I really think cooling is key for these cards to perform @ >1250.

The Radeon 7850 is an overclocking beast

There is no way to make a chip better, but if it is being limited by heat then an aftermarket cooler can make a massive difference. My Powercolor (same as VTX) throttled at 1200MHz on the reference cooler, but after adding an Accelero I can now bench @ 1400MHz, and completely stable @ 1350MHz. A...

The Radeon 7850 is an overclocking beast

There are 86's and 87's about, and also plenty of 60's and 70's. Not all of the 80's clock well, and not all of the lower ASIC's clock poorly. I think higher numbers provide more potential, but nohing is guaranteed. http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18389760&page=45

The Radeon 7850 is an overclocking beast

It is 84.9%, pretty good but nothing spectacular. There are people with higher ASIC's on the UK forums but they cannot clock as high as mine. I think cooling is the real key with these, and keeping temps below 60 allows for massive clocks.

The Radeon 7850 is an overclocking beast

I posted this on Overclockers UK forums, but some may also be inerested here. Temps after playing BF3 for about 70mins @ 1350 core 1.3v with an Accelero Twin Turbo II cooler fitted.

The Radeon 7850 is an overclocking beast

Here is a note for people thinking of flashing to the ASUS BIOS. Using the lastest ASUS GPU Tweak v2124 causes instant crash whenever non-stock clocks are applied. I rolled back to GPU Tweak 2.0.6 and all is fine again. I also tried the new release Afterburner which it is totally rubbish...

Radeon 7850 bios modding and overclocking

I would like to know what mod's you can perform on the 7850 BIOS. Is it just clock speed settings or can you manipulate the voltage values also?
