So I reinstalled windows. only installed essential drivers and programs. run dirt3 and nothing has changed:| the kdbsync error has stopped though:awe: ive now OC'd my 7870 (on Stock volts) rock solid stable at 1200mhz core & 1365mhz memory. It made my 3dmark 11 score alot higher ;) I guess dirt3...
UPDATE: So i downloaded and run 3dmark 11 basic. I used the preset setting: "Performance 1280x720", Got a score of: P6957 3DMarks which seems completely normal for a HD 7870???. so why is my fps in dirt3 so low??

Wow thanks for all your support guys! Ok so I downloaded Driver Sweeper, uninstalled ati drivers, run driver sweeper, (it did find some old nvidia drivers) removed all ati & nvidia software. rebooted and reinstalled ati drivers.
Im now getting the kdbsync error again yay!!
I think I will try...

Update: Fixed issue of "Kdbsync.exe" removed all ati drivers.etc re-downloaded software and installed.
Still experiencing lower than expected performance :(
here are the settings i use in dirt3:
screen res: 1360x768 (low I know)
multisampling: 8xMSAA
vsync: off
(all detail are set on as high as possible)
I do get this error message every time I boot to windows
"Kdbsync.exe has stopped working"

Ive just upgraded my graphics card from a EVGA 460GTX SC to a Sapphire 7870 Ghz edition :biggrin:. I used FRAPS to benchmark my two cards in a few different games.
(all settings on highest possible)
In DiRT3 I averaged:
134 fps with 460GTX
and
100 fps with 7870
