    i3 2100 Futureproof?

I'm running a 3650 AGP. I'm guessing as games become more CPU dominant, more frequent MB/CPU upgrades are gonna have to happen. From my like the mid range (perhaps lower mid-range) seem to give the most performance per dollar. If I have to make a $300-400 dollar upgrade every year...

    i3 2100 Futureproof?

Will do. The video card upgrades have left me able to play some of the latest games, which is also a reason I was more looking to future proof my GPU options, rather then CPU. I guess things may be changing now with the utilization of multiple cores?

    Ivy Bridge and PCIe 3.0

Guessing their just setting the standard now, even though it will be a few years before the new slot bandwidth can actually be utilized?

I got ya. I'm still running a P4 with AGP. Really outdated.

    Ivy Bridge and PCIe 3.0

I just read that the Ivy bridge CPU will "support" PCIe 3.0. I didn't know the CPU could cap how much bandwidth a video card bus could utilize, so I must be missing something? If not, would the Sandy Bridge CPU cap a PCIe 3.0 motherboard and video card from utilizing the extra bandwidth?

    i3 2100 Futureproof?

Probably Bad Company 3 and Modern Warfare 3. I won't be playing Crysis 2. I'm curious if the trend in gaming is to use the quad cores, therefore I can just upgrade the GPU when needed.

    i3 2100 Futureproof?

Hi everyone, I am looking to build a budget gaming PC. I was curious if a i3 would future proof me enough for the next 2-3 years, or if it would be better just to spend the extra $60 and get an i5 2300 for it's quad cores? Note: I will not be OCing, so I will be getting an H67 MB...

    Intel mobo ram compatibility

Hi Tom. It's not so much that they didn't test certain models, it's just that for the 1gb sticks the mobo only supports DS, not SS. I don't know what that means so I though it had something to do with 1gb sticks in particular. I realize that a lot of other top ram brands aren't listed, though...

    2GB or 3GB RAM Upgrade

200-300mb is being used by the background apps. Would 3GB be worth it? Or would 2GB be sufficient. I'm really looking just to play modern warfare 2 and bad company 2.

    2GB or 3GB RAM Upgrade
