    Are your wireless devices set statically? If so, you can wait till the problem occurs and start pinging around the network to see where the connection is failing.

    We use MikroTik Gateways. They list all that info for you, without having to do any kind of firmware upgrades.

    Mind if I ask why you wanted to switch to AHCI? Only reason I've heard of people doing it is so they can run Mac OS on a PC.
