Not only that, but we can expect the stock clocked 512MB 8800 GT to hit $200 at the low end. The 256MB part, which won't show up until the end of November, will hit prices below $200
~$200 for stock 512MB GT ... holy mother of God

Default 8800GT Review

I made comparison from those scores. I used HD2900XT 1024MB and 800 GTS 640MB and 8800 GTX

Quake Wars: Enemy Territory
1920x1200 4xAA 16xAF

65FPS

82% GTX
124,5% HD2900XT
110% GTS
----
Half-Life 2: Episode 2
1920x1200 4xAA 16xAF
59 fps

90% GTX
123% HD2900XT
124% GTS
----

Stalker [Ultra quality]
1920x1200

76.58 fps

80,7% GTX
118% HD2900XT
108% GTS

-------

Colin McRae: Offroad
1280x1024 4xAA

41,4 fps

96% GTX
121,8% HD2900XT
130,7% GTS

-------

World In Conflict DX10
1600x1200

33fps

91,7% GTX
132% HD2900XT
117,8% GTS

-----

Company of Heroes: Opposing Fronts DX10
1600x1200 4xAA

31,5 fps

69,5% GTX
111,7% HD2900XT
97,2% GTS

-------

Lost Planet DX10 4xAA 16xAF 1280x1024

Cave: 42.8 fps
84,2% GTX
167,2% HD2900XT
114,1% GTS

Snow: 30.3

80,7% GTX
160,3% HD2900XT
111,4% GTS

Bioshock DX10 Ultra quality 1920x1200
45 fps

92,7% GTX
100,2% HD2900XT
121,1% GTS
------
Note there were some performance difference between 320MB and 640MB..and 640MB performed better. These 8800 GT 512MB's are supposed to replace 8800 GTS 320MB (pricewise) not that old 640MB.

-----

Overclocking:
From 600/1800
to 730/2000

Don't know how good that is? I mean there's certain difference between in overclockability with early 8800 GTS 640MB and more recent (new revision is better overclocking).

--------

And it's no suprice it's monster card when it comes to h.264 and VC-1

-------------

What optimizations will HD3800-series cards have? This 8800 GT 512MB will be priced similarly compared to HD3850 which will be as good as HD2900XT (performance wise) without optimizations

Site must be getting hammered to Helsinki. I can't get it going.
Rusin: Do your percentages indicate the performance of the 8800GT to each card?
Example:
Quake Wars: Enemy Territory
1920x1200 4xAA 16xAF

65FPS

82% GTX
124,5% HD2900XT
110% GTS

This means that the 8800GT performs at 82% of a GTX, 124.5% of the 2900XT, and 110% of the GTS?. Correct?
Just wanted to clarify for others.

It's faster than the GTS but slower than the GTX, which is what I expected.

Quite a change from how things were last 3 gens, eh?

from 59xx-68xx-79xx, all 256-bit
Now, we have 3 different width's in the same gen.
8800GT 256-bit
8800GTS 320-bit
8800GTX 384-bit

Well it's like:
GT's fps / GTX's fps = 0,82
GT's fps / HD2900XT's fps = 1,245
GT's fps/ GTS's fps =1,1

So you can calculate back those HD2900XT and GTX and GTS results.

Geforce 8800 GT uses 20W less in load compared to GTS, 84W less compared to GTX. Card also runs rather hot on default (idle: 62, load 85)..don't know if that cooler is silent, but lower powerconsumption and G92 running hot could indicate that this one slot solution is silent. Overclocking: It's not in language that I could understand, but they got atleast 730 / 2000 for clocks (1825 for shaders). Their 3dMark06 result dir rise 13% from 12403 -> 14013.

Test system included:
QX6700@3.0GHz (9x333)
Asustek P5E3 Deluxe (X38)
Kingston DDR3-1066
Vista 32-bit

edit
Ok I can't connect to that site anymore.. too much traffic. When I first heard of that review I couldn't get in, but then for a very short period that review website worked like a dream .

Btw. Two 8800GT's with price of one 8800 GTX..anyone?

avoid making comments like that, everyone knows there is something better around the corner, but you cant just keep waiting, especially when the wait time is almost 1 year, which is a huge amount of time in technology.

The 8800GTX has been out for almost a year now. It isn't that uncommon for a card with almost the same performance for half the cost to come out a year after a high end flagship card. That being said, it's nice to see NVIDIA moving forward and bringing high performance DX10 cards down to a more affordable level.

are these new 8800 GT's on the 65nm die DX 10.1 compliant cards? If not when are they expected?

Frankly, I would argue the opposite of their opinions...the 8800 series went totally unmatched for 6 months, and remained top contenders for an entire year. It seems before those cards came out, a better deal was always just around the corner. Sure, you now get a bit more performance for $100 less...but early adopters usually get totally screwed.

It looks like the market will finally see a much needed viable option in the low $200 price range.

From what I understand, they are DX10, not 10.1, and that the new AMD cards are.

Im not sure if that actually matters. Can you update to 10.1 through software, or is it only through hardware?

I found this, course it looks like you can find other articles that say its not compliant with dx10. So which is it?

8800GTX has been out for how long now?

Edit: Just looked it up. The 8800GTX was released 11/8/2006. I doubt the 8800GT will be out by 11/8/2007.

8800GTX has been out for how long now?

Edit: Just looked it up. The 8800GTX was released 11/8/2006. I doubt the 8800GT will be out by 11/8/2007.
mid range has moved alot in the last year, 7600gt was the mid range back in 2006 i think thats what he is trying to point out

exactly. i'm glad i decided to hold off.

avoid making comments like that, everyone knows there is something better around the corner, but you cant just keep waiting, especially when the wait time is almost 1 year, which is a huge amount of time in technology.
Yes, this is true. Some people needed a card right away and they had to choose. 1 year in technology time is too long to wait.

Default 8800GT Review

How much is the 512MB version of the card supposed to cost, and will they offer HDMI output/dongles like ATI currently does?
