Default GOM player and choppy playback of .mkv and .mp4 container files

I like GOM player and have been a bit customed to its feature sets including

Automatic play of the next similarly named file in the folder without queuing manually a file into a playlist.

Video, audio, and still capture built in.

A-B repeat (a fun feature for some instances)

Full screen controls are hidden until a mouseover.

Works with my keyboard's media buttons (however, I must have the window active)

Incremental forward, back keys that are actually only using just the arrow key (not a three key combo like most players.... however due to this, the media button's next file, previous file buttons are also set this way with GOM....)

But in any instance, using the same codecs (ffdshow set, Matroska - and I am not using GOM's built in codecs) the same file in for instance WMP is smooth compared to GOM's playback of the file which is choppy as no other.

That and GOM does not utilize the file's built in fonts for files which in some instances reveal hidden text that don't show in WMP.

I have asked the question of searching for a media player before so I wonder if there is any other things you guys use. Or have a recommended replacement given the features I have stated above.

I am using GOM

Ok, fixed it a bit. I thought I was NOT using the built in codecs but I had to manually tell it in the filters options under advance to select ffdshow components and matsroka components. Also it appears that the mkv mixer is not playing together with ffdshow's audio decoder, so had to disable that.

Now to figure out how to get the external subtitle filters to work....
